Yacine Adli is not in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans for AC Milan, and as a result he will be sent to train with Milan Futuro.
La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm that Milan will gather on Monday for the first day of the preseason campaign but have planned a special program for some players: Adli, Devis Vasquez, Theo Hernandez, Ismael Bennacer. Each have their own story but there is a common reason: they are all leaving.

Theo and Bennacer will have a few extra days of vacation, while Adli and Vasquez have been called up for the following Monday, July 14, with the Futuro team.
Allegri makes a bold call
Adli has the most strange story. Allegri evidently doesn’t appreciate him but the decision to have him train with Milan Futuro is strong, due to the level of the Frenchman and the affection he has always shown for Milan.
Last season, before getting injured, he was a starter for Fiorentina. Stefano Pioli, who didn’t consider him at the start of the 2023-24 season, in April 2024 came to define him as ‘the most reliable defensively among the midfielders in the squad’.
The Frenchman is certainly very light physically, but he has excellent technique and over the years he has become a bit of a cult hero for the fans and a key figure in the dressing room. The barbecue with teammates and families that he organised in a difficult moment of the 2022-23 season was symbolic.
Now, he will train with Milan Futuro from July 14, with the idea that he will soon find another club. Same date for Devis Vasquez, who was on loan at Empoli last season and still has one year of contract with Milan. Unless there are unthinkable U-turns, he will not be in the squad.
The discussion regarding Theo and Bennacer is a bit different. Milan granted the pair a few extra days of vacation, considering that they played until late June with the national teams and are experiencing strange times.
The negotiations between Milan and Al-Hilal for Theo Hernandez will conclude soon, ideally just after their exit from the Club World Cup. Simone Inzaghi’s team will take to the field on Friday 4th against Fluminense. Is an agreement between the clubs close? Yes, very close, for around €25m.
Bennacer, on the other hand, is returning from a loan at Marseille but will leave again. Marseille did not buy him out and tried to take him on loan again. Other clubs have inquired, but the problem is his injury history and his €4m net salary.
Marseille will try play low ball with Milan over bennacer. Probably 9-10m they could be handshakes..
And yet we were expecting to sell him for ca. 30 million last year …
Devis Vasquez can be a backup keeper for Mike while Torriani the 3rd choice.
With Maignan it’s hard to justify 2nd and 3rd keeper spots that don’t qualify for national or academy trained list spots.
It’s hard to fit Vasquez in the squad.
Not a good start. Really hate it when we do this, it’s not like it even had an effect when we did it with Origi and FBT, just meant no clubs showed any interest in them. Surely makes more sense to have them train in the first team, get a few minutes and be match fit for any potential buyer?
Yes or just release them.
I hope with Adli, there’s a transfer about to happen and not an “Origi’s special” treatment, because being or not part of Allegri’s plan, this is a guy that would give 110% to fight for a place in the squad and has always showed his love for the club.

I don’t know if it’s about squad limits… There’s only one competition next season and there’s just no need for so may mids… If there’s no interest in him, what do you do with him?
I mean the Futuro CLEARLY needs help – they will be playing against plumbers and electricians…
Every season the deadweights comes back to haunt. Hopefully Adli can pivot out of the squad and find another destination. He’s a nice kid by all accounts.
He’s a senior professional, signed to a contract which one would think was for first team football. Who goes to Milan from a first team to then be told to go play with kids?
They know they have to offload players but choose to demote them to the Futuro (and yes that’s a demotion and demoralization) because they want newer shinier objects. I don’t know if you know but currently we have more than the 17 foreign players allowed. We need to trim….and Adli seems like he didn’t make the cut. Instead of finding a suitable exit strategy we send players to play in a lower group that’s not befitting of their skill level and doesn’t help the situation of an exit.
I guess my problem is with how we act and what we do to players when they’re no longer in our plans after we bring them here. It’s not a good way to conduct business
Seems to me the same obnoxious pea brain who decided Origi’s fate, speaking through Ibra’s voice the last time around, is now speaking through Allegri voice.
Well, Adli hasn’t won a UCL unlike Origi, so perhaps he can be pushed around. I don’t see any good coming from this.
In any case, I don’t expect Allegri to succeed — even if Milan is playing just Serie A and Copa Italia. His second coming at Juve didn’t go well; did it? Safe to say, this is just a sentimental appointment.
I’m not even expecting so much from Modric, either. He couldn’t offer Real Madrid much in his last season; could he? The guy is 40!
Asli should be given chances. He can control the tempo, he can pass the ball, he is committed to Milan.
I cannot see anything good coming from this. The player’s value will drop even more, and other clubs interested will lowball. Another possibility, they get an impression that the player is that bad that even Milan put him in a Serie D squad. They want to offload him, yes, but he does not deserve such treatment.
A bit harsh, sending him down there without even giving him a chance. A stand up professional who always gave 110%. Considering our midfield he’s currently just behind Modrić and Ricci.
He is behind everyone when defending. -1 player.

If you want to play possession football, Adli is an okay choice although considering how we want to make several signing in the midfielder, it’s normal that he won’t get any spot

Fiorentina had this guy, he started well, lacked consistency, which made them again looked for Fagioli to do the job they hired Adli for, season ends, they ship Adli back to us and sign Fagioli on a permanent deal.
They passed on the opportunity to sign Adli for €10m only to sign Fagioli for €16m.
And somehow, you guys think that’s good on Adli’s CV? You guys are a joke.
He is mediocre, guys stop hyping mediocrity just to satisfy your weak narratives. Adli apart from being mediocre has nothing in sync with Allegri’s style of play.

Adli has always had a dedicated fanbase here. Possibly Pirlo II wishful thinking of some sort. That said, banishing him to Serie D is harsh. While he might not be a top tier player, he’s definitely better than Serie D and for the professionalism shown and attachment to the shirt, he should be treated with a little more respect.
I will want to believe there’s negotiation ongoing with another club.

Listen, in 2024/2025 season Fiorentina played the following matches:
Serie A = 38 matches
UEFA Conference League = 12 matches
UEFA Conference League Qualifiers = 2 matches
Coppa Italia = 1 match
TOTAL = 53 matches
Adli missed only 7 matches due to injury, that means he had 46 matches to redeem himself.
If the failure was not as a result of inconsistencies, then I don’t know what else I should attribute it to.

Lol at least get the deals right. First of all I agree with Vero here…..there’s something to be said on how we treat players. His level is far above Futuro, there’s no need to devalue him in case we need a sale or his exit. We’re basically pushing players out who we signed for us to play professionally in the first team by pulling this stunt. It’s an almost take it or leave it scenario….leave or we’ll force you to play below your level….after we wanted you here.

We should be looking at who made the Adli deal. Juve made a better deal than Furlani did. Their deal was with an obligation triggered after min European spot achieved, ours was only an option. Seeing as you might be an accountant, la Viola already had a more meaningful sunk cost anyway of 2.5m paid upfront for the loan. We had 2m. Plus in any case, they HAD to pay up by obligation….it wasn’t that they simply passed on Adli in favour of Fagioli. Perhaps they didn’t want to spend on another midfielder if they didn’t have to. Adli’s per 90 in the offensive phase (goal contributions) is the best for Fiorentina all season. In most categories he out ranks Fagioli or is similar. So to me the choice seem predicated on the obligation rather than sporting.
Also for additional context, they got Fagioli in the winter window due to Adli’s injury (Adli was doing fine up until then) as they did not want to risk being out of European spots. Who knows maybe they ask for another loan again hopefully with an obligation this time but Adli shouldn’t be playing in Serie D.
He have 5 goals and 8 assist in seria a with less minutes played than Musah. Yet Musah is worth 25+ mill. Makes no sense.
A midfielders attributes aren’t all about goals and assists you know.

Musah is a potential that can be molded in anything by a good coach.

And what do I know about football… but maybe it could be a better idea trying to form a compact solid TEAM instead of swapping 3/4 players every half year. And ffs… growing some players in the academy instead of buying half of europe would be a good idea too.

Really dumb decision honestly, and he deserves better. How are you sending him to Futura when our midfield is as absolutely useless as it currently is? We have modric, fofana, and Ricci, THATS IT. Nobody else is worth even looking at. Adli is preferable to all of musah, Bondo, rlc and pobega. When are coaches gonna get it thru their heads rlc is a traffic cone. 3 coaches have tried to make him a starter now. And everytime he’s getting benched by everyone, even academy players. Adli is the best backup to Fofana we currently have

This perception right here will not make you have a fare assessment of the matter at hand.
Fagioli wasn’t signed because of Adli’s injury.
A simple check will show you that the Fagioli deal was announced on 3rd February, 2025 and Adli was not injured, in fact he played in Fiorentina’s trashing of Inter Milan on 6th February, 2025. It just happened that he got injured, but Fagioli was signed because Adli was largely inconsistent.
Let me not even get started with the business acumen displayed in the contract structuring for the Fagioli deal, I’m an advocate of astute negotiations obviously. But, Fiorentina wouldn’t have desperately entered into such a deal had Adli been solid enough.
But, let me set things straight, as stated in my initial comments, I think Adli being sent to Futuro may be as a result of ongoing negotiations.
My vexation is particularly channelled to comments about Adli like he’s some Kaka or Seedorf when in reality he couldn’t hold his ground in a club like Fiorentina.

Adli had more than enough opportunities. He never convinced anyone that he was up to it and was rightly shipped out. Fio are not convinced either. Adli is simply not good enough. Sending him to Futuro seems harsh though.
He was never given chance to proof himself at ACM. Yes he is far away below rui costa or pirlo quality but throw him away to futuro are a bit harsh, atleast give him chance at preseason. He is rossoneri fan and will give 100 % in field
Borini always gave his 100% on the field, and he all knew what that meant.

I will still play him and benacer anyday any time and have ricci or fofana to guide him
