RMC Sport: AFCON could soon be cancelled – what it would mean for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

It could be that the cancellation of the 2022 edition of the African Cup of Nations scheduled to begin next month is confirmed soon, a report claims.

AFCON is scheduled from 9 January to 6 February 2022 and it would certainly have a pretty sizeable effect on Milan given that Franck Kessie is set to represent the Ivory Coast, Ismael Bennacer will be there with Algeria and Fode Ballo-Toure should be called up by Senegal.

According to what is being reported by RMC Sport, CAN could in fact announce the cancellation of the 2022 edition that should be played in Cameroon. We of course wait for further confirmations of this news.

If it were to be true though it may certainly change some of Milan’s plans for the midfield given they would no longer have the rely upon just Bakayoko and Tonali as the natural occupants of the double pivot, which may in turn have a knock-on on the recruitment plan for January.

Given that Ivory Coast and Algeria are always among the pre-tournament favourites, it was (and is) highly possible that they could miss Milan’s games against Roma, Venezia, Genoa (cup), Spezia, Juventus and Inter.

That make no sense at all

  2. No way AFCON should be cancelled just that European clubs have full squads.
Corona will stay with us anyway
I could not imagine if it was on reverse and for example eurobasket would be cancelled because NBA wants their players

FIFA is to blame for Quatar WC and this chaos of the schedule
