Aftonbladet: Milan loanee Roback goes missing – Norrköping cannot contact him

There is some concern about AC Milan-owned forward Emil Roback who has not shown up for training for two weeks with his loan club IFK Norrköping.

According to Aftonbladet, Norrköping cannot get hold of Roback and sporting director Tony Martinsson has been trying for two weeks to contact him.

In March, IFK Norrköping signed the 20-year-old on loan from Milan. His time in the Allsvenskan has not been successful so far as he has made three short appearances.

Now Roback is not even training with IFK Norrköping and the club quite literally do not know where he is. For Norrköping Tidningar, sports director Tony Martinsson tells that he tried to contact Roback for two weeks.

“I want to know that he is okay. It’s worrying that we can’t get hold of him, but I don’t know what else we can do. I have sat down with him many times, but it is difficult to reach him,” he said.

“I want him to come here. Then we can find a plan that works for everyone. I haven’t given up hope that he will return but it’s hard to know when we haven’t seen him in 14 days.”

Roback did an interview with Norrköpings Tidningar in August. during which he admitted himself that his loan is not going the way he wanted.

“It hasn’t gone as planned, if I do say so myself. I just try to take it as it comes. Then it’s also up to the coach, but I try to do my best all the time,” he said.

In August 2020, Hammarby sold Roback to Milan for €1.5m and in the autumn that followed, he was praised by his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic. His contract with Milan expires in June 2025, and the signs for the future are not positive at this stage.
