It seemed that the idea of Theo Hernandez joining Al-Hilal had fully died off, but on Wednesday there was an attempt to revive things.
With just over 12 months on his contract and a renewal nowhere close, Milan quickly agreed a deal with Al-Hilal worth around €35m to sell the defender, bonuses included. The Frenchman rejected the move, hoping to get a top European club, with Atletico Madrid then emerging as a candidate.

When things seem to be progressing towards a conclusion, Atletico decided to walk away from the negotiating table and instead turned to Andrew Robertson of Liverpool. Thus, it all went quiet on the Theo front.

According to MilanNews, a meeting between Federico Pastorello and the Milan management at Casa Milan concluded on Wednesday evening. The well-known agent today took on the role of intermediary on behalf of Al-Hilal.
The Saudi club – which recently appointed Simone Inzaghi as their new coach – are not giving up on Theo Hernandez. In recent weeks there had been a strong attempt for the full-back, which then did not come to fruition.
Milan had accepted the offer of around €30m but as mentioned Theo said no and Atleti didn’t raise their offer. Al-Hilal continue to try for the defender and it is ‘a situation to keep an eye on during the summer’.
Don’t know why this management is trying to get rid of theo at all costs, telling you right now there aren’t any full backs this team could afford that could even tie his shoes.
They don’t want to pay more than 5 million euros in wages for any player that isn’t a superstar striker. If he get 7.5, which is fair for his stature, then other players will ask to receive similar wages. Our wage bill is between 98 to 104 million euros, yearly, we could almost double that and be safe with our income. We touch 300 minimum to 400 million euros in yearly revenue. FFP restrictions let us spend 70% on wages and transfers. This ownership simply refuses to be in a position to spend out of their pocket because they probably don’t have the cashflow abd willingness to do it.
Why aren’t any other European clubs lining up for a player of “his stature”?
Probably because Milan being a greedy feeder club where they try to ruin all the players. You know, the everyday crap we read here on the comments section.
Everything was fine for years with Théo. Everything is fine when Théo is playing with France. Somehow you still can’t understand that denying a fair extension to a player who gave everything to the club, maybe even lying as we saw with Mike, also being a model for Puma and sht, while reducing the sporting ambitions of a Scudetto winning/UCL semifinalist team to 4th is enough and benching him for no reason other than a cheap coach trying to show authority could affect one’s mental wellness. I guess top teams pay therapists and mental coaches because it’s fun, after all players are robots made of algorithms and data. Or maybe Théo should have just shut up and smile and continue to play for peanuts (relatively) while potentially risking a big injury, as his own brother endured, or trust this trustworthy management that an extension would eventually arrive. There’s no future for ambitious players in this circus, it’s sad to say but it’s a bliss to see Théo leaving and hopefully getting what he deserves elsewhere.
Because Theo is done at the club and no one is paying him 8mil to stay and play like that.
If they we’re trying at all costs they would’ve accepted Atletico’s offer .
If the management gives in to Theo, everything else will fall like dominos. So no, the chance of him staying and getting what he wants is zero. There are two facts: 1. He is one of the best LB’s in the world; and 2. He no longer wants to be here.

Stop with this nonsense. Nobody wants Theo off this team more than me but he doesn’t want to got to the Saudi League and I don’t blame him. Just take whatever you can get from Atletico and move on. Theo was a selfish , undisciplined problem even when the club treated him well, I can’t imagine the problem he will be this season if he stays and club doesn’t want him. Let him be someone else’s problem this year. Getting his toxic attitude out of this locker room is worth more than any money you will get in return.
Theo is a very good player, but he needs a leader. He was great when Zlatan and Giroud were in charge (and Maldini was present behind the scenes). The entire team is like that btw.
Keep an eye on until his contract expires. End up he will go on free. Hahaha…
Theo could have been a Milan icon. Unfortunately, he became an overvalued erratic player. Let’s just remember that Bayern was sniffing around 2 years ago when the price tag was over 90 million….Only Theo knows what happened. Maybe Conceicao,too.
