Agent of €25m Cagliari star insists he is ‘not surprised’ to learn of reported Milan interest

The agent of Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno has admitted he is ‘not surprised’ to learn of reported interest from AC Milan.

The future surrounding current No.1 Gianluigi Donnarumma is uncertain at present, as his deal runs out in 2021 meaning Milan must either agree a renewal as soon as possible or sell this summer to avoid losing their Primavera product on a free transfer.

Milan have been linked with moves for a number of possible replacements including the likes of Alex Meret, Juan Musso and Salvatore Sirigu, and il Corriere dello Sport claimed on Tuesday that Cagliari’s Alessio Cragno has now also emerged as an option.

The 25-year-old is ‘ready for a big leap’ and to join one of Italy’s top clubs after six years at Cagliari and would apparently cost around €20-25m.

In response to the rumours, Cragno’s agent Graziano Battistini spoke to calciomercato.it about his client.

“Alessio has returned perfectly in shape, he is 100% cured of the shoulder problem. The most important thing now is this,” he said.

“To date, speaking of the market, in such a confusing situation, seems to me out of place and out of time. The only thing I can say with certainty is that we are looking at one of the best goalkeepers around and the rumours about the possible interests of other teams do not surprise me.”
