Agent of Paqueta speaks out: “Everything fine, Lucas is happy at Milan”

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of Lucas Paqueta has spoken out amid rumours of discontent between his client and Milan head coach Marco Giampaolo.

A report Calciomercato.com earlier in September suggested that there are parts of the Brazilian’s game which ‘angered’ Giampaolo, and tentative rumours of a rift have developed from there.

Giampaolo told DAZN (via Football Italia) after the 1-0 win over Brescia before the international break that Paqueta ‘needs to be a little less Brazilian at times’ in his style of play.

The former Flamengo man posted an Instagram story stating that he is ‘proud to be Brazilian’ after the game against Verona on Sunday, causing some to assume it was a dig at his manager.

The 21-year-old played the first half away at the Bentegodi but was hauled off in favour of new signing Ante Rebic.

Sky Italia – as cited by MilanNews – then stated earlier on Tuesday that Giampaolo spoke in private with Paqueta about the post on Instagram, reassuring the player about his intentions.

Eduardo Uram – Paqueta’s agent – has now addressed rumours that there is any kind of rift between the former Flamengo star and his boss.

He told TMW (via MilanNews): “Everything is fine, between Lucas and Milan there are no problems.

“The substitution on Sunday? It’s normal. Lucas is happy to stay at Milan.

“The confrontation with Giampaolo? With the coach and the club, everything is fine.

“A fine for the story on Instagram? If Milan decides to fine him, Lucas will pay the fine. Milan will have a great season, we are talking about a great team.”
