Agent of River Plate star believes Milan’s head scout Moncada is monitoring his client

The agent of River Plate defender Lucas Martinez Quarta has revealed that AC Milan have scouted his client in the recent past.

Links with the 23-year-old first emerged in August when Argentine journalist German Balcarce – who works for lapaginamillonaria.com – claims that Milan were in ‘advanced talks’ over a move.

He claimed that the Rossoneri had swooped in ahead of Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin having held talks for weeks with the player’s agent, and that a €25m deal was close to being agreed.

Now, the player’s representative Gustavo Goni has spoken out about the situation surrounding his client, denying any talks with the Rossoneri but admitting his feeling that he has been scouted by the club.

“Martinez Quarta is Argentina’s greatest talent. He already has all the qualities to play at an important club in Europe. He reminds me of Fabian Ayala and Fabio Cannavaro,” Goni told Calciomercato.com (via MilanLive).

On possible contacts with Milan, he added: “I have to tell the truth, I have not had any meeting with AC Milan representatives. I know Moncada has been to Argentina to watch some River games. I don’t know if Martinez Quarta was the real reason for the mission, but it wouldn’t surprise me.”
