The agent of Lazio star Ciro Immobile has revealed that AC Milan have previously held an interest in his client, and did not completely shut the door on a summer exit.
Since his unsuccessful spells abroad with Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, Immobile has become one of the biggest stars in Italian football once again, netting 116 goals in 167 appearances for Lazio across all competitions since his return to Serie A.
He has been the Capocannoniere (top scorer) twice in the league, once back in 2012-13 with Torino and then again in 2017-18 with Lazio, but he had to share the award that year.
At 30 years of age, Immobile has his future committed to the Aquile until 2023 at present, however that has not stopped suggestions that one more big move could be on the cards.
Alessandro Moggi spoke to the microphones of Radio Kiss Kiss about his client’s future, beginning with reported interest from Napoli in the past, and his comments were transcribed by Calciomercato.com.
“There is no doubt that Giuntoli [Napoli sporting director] is an absolute admirer of Immobile, so much so that he wanted to bring him to Naples when Ciro was leaving Sevilla,” Moggi revealed.
“It seems difficult to me to think of a manager who does not value a footballer like Ciro, who has been incredible for the past five years.
“Regardless of the interests of Napoli and other clubs, the market could have a setback because of the Coronavirus emergency. He has a contract until 2023. If there is someone concretely interested he will have to knock on Lazio’s door, in addition to that of the player.
“But today it is premature to talk about it. That there are interests, as happened in the past with teams like Inter, Milan and from China a year ago, is normal. We will see later.
Moggi also spoke about Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, who has been linked with a move to Milan in recent days.
“Milik away for €40million? If with the expiring contract he is worth so much, tell me how much Immobile is worth.”
