AC Milan will seize any opportunities that arise towards the end of the summer window to complete the squad, according to an agent and intermediary.
Milan have been the busiest team among the perennial Serie A challengers having completed six signings and with a seventh soon to follow in Samuel Chukwueze, thus reinvesting the Sandro Tonali money with purpose.
It promises to be a tough upcoming season to call with so much upheaval in and around the league, and it seems that the Rossoneri wish to capitalise on the possibility of rising through the crowd to become title candidates. If you think you know who is going to lift the Scudetto, online sports betting is for you.
MilanNews spoke to Filippo Colasanto – an agent and intermediary – about Milan’s summer window so far and if there may in fact be more business yet to follow.
Your first impressions of Reijnders and Okafor?
“The Dutchman has personality and respect, as well as considerable talent. I liked the switch to the number 6 shirt not chosen out of respect for Franco Baresi, with the 14 taken for his third idol of all time, Cruijff.”
Moving on to the field, where could Pioli yse him?
“He’s not just a regista. He is a modern full-field Dutch midfielder. He has strong attacking skills.”
Skills that suit a 4-3-2?
“Exactly, for me Pioli will make a dynamic and fluid 4-3-3, a bit like his teams have always been. He won the Scudetto precisely because of the unpredictability of the movements of some players: sometimes Bennacer was the added full-back.”
Bennacer who won’t be there for a significant period of the upcoming season…
“Pioli has remarkable solutions at hand. For me, Milan’s incoming market mainly took into account the Algerian’s absence, which was crucial for the Rossoneri coach.”
Is another striker missing from the Milan mosaic?
“Someone will come, maybe they have already signed him.”
After that, do you expect the Rossoneri’s business to end here?
“No, in my opinion, any opportunities will be seized afterwards. If there are any, the Rossoneri will also take on a central defender and another forward as supporting players.”
On the other hand, the sales front? The Rossoneri could get a considerable nest egg if De Ketelaere leaves…
“De Ketelaere could have a concrete market in the Premier League, but – if there’s no room for him – I hope he’ll only go on loan. For me, the talent is there, just a little malice is missing. This season he has been excessively shy to wear the colours of Milan.”
What seasonal goals do you think Milan are aiming for?
“The Scudetto is now a lottery. There are, right now, four to five top level teams that can compete for it. This is why I have to say that the Scudetto of all, having raised the level of our league, is the qualification in the Champions League, also for reasons of economic revenues.”
