Agent of Villarreal star confirms Milan’s pursuit: “The Rossoneri wanted to buy him”

The agent of Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma has confirmed that his client was a target for AC Milan back in 2019 but they failed to agree a deal with his then-club Brugge.

Danjuma scored the second of the three goals as Villarreal eliminated Juventus from the Champions League on Wednesday night and was effectively the one that closed the game and secured the progression for Unai Emery’s men.

Now, one of his agents Michael Jarman has revealed some interesting background on how he could have ended up facing Juve more regularly because the 25-year-old from Lagos – who has scored 13 goals and has 4 assists this season – was in the sights of Milan.

“The Rossoneri wanted to buy him in the transfer market in January (2019), when he was at Bruges,” he told Calciomercato.it. “But the two clubs did not find an agreement on the price tag.”

“A future in Serie A? Danjuma is one of the best talents of his generation. For me he belongs to the category of Mbappe, but fate wanted us to know him only now.

“For the future everything is possible, in Italy there are fantastic clubs and obviously Danjuma will want to win trophies in his career. But as mentioned, he is so happy at Villarreal and with Emery that nothing else matters at the moment.”

Milan are understood to be in the market for a new winger this summer but more so a player for the right side than the left, where Danjuma generally plays. However, the Rossoneri have also shown a willingness to invest in young talent they believe can grow in the future, so it might not be an impossibility.
