Report claims Al-Fateh want to tempt Milan striker to move to Saudi Arabia

AC Milan striker Divock Origi is a target for Saudi Arabia side Al-Fateh and they are lining up a move, according to a report.

According to Football Insider, the Saudi side Al Fateh – who are managed by Slaven Bilic – want to sign Origi having been made aware that he is not part of Milan’s plans for the upcoming season.

The Rossoneri are keen to offload Origi after just one season at the club following his arrival from Liverpool on a four-year deal last summer, given he struggled to stay fit and scored only twice.

The 28-year-old was left out of the squad for Milan’s preseason tour of the United States which says a lot about where Pioli sees him in his plans.

Crystal Palace and West Ham are keen, but Al-Fateh are hoping to convince the former Liverpool man to make the move to Saudi Arabia, where he would link up with compatriot Jason Denayer.

  1. In my view It would make more sense to sign for an englsih team but this saudi summer of spending is beyond nuts as neymar also signed for a saudi team in the last few days, I checked some of those clubs has spend 150-200 mil and only has an income of 5 mil. If that doesnt come back to bite them in their rearends i dont know what would. On the positive side this might help burying ffp.

    1. I won’t. It will just get underwritten by a seemingly infinite pot of money.

Where it ends is hard to tell, but it definitely won’t end like China did.

        1. If it doesnt then i think fifa wont have much other option than to abandon ffp but who knows. In the end though i expect the hype and league to fizzle out as soon saudi arabia hopefully loses their bid for the 2030 world cup. Anyways i really have a difficult time to see why anyone would spend their careers there, sure the money but money isnt everything or at least shouldnt be for athletes,

        1. I think it will crash and burn as well sooner or later because its baisically just a tool for them in their attempt to highjack the 2030 world cup.

      1. If that is the case then they really should abandon it today as it just further distorts the terms of competition.

      1. You’re not far off but more likely they will simply set up footballs equivalent of LIV and promise top European clubs they can spend what they want.

That’s likely what this is about – build the rep of their clubs so in a few years they can say “hey Europes elite, we should really be playing each other competitively…”

        Dats wot I rekun

      2. As far as I know that is not possible, UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) can’t take in teams outside Europe. Arabia is not in Europe

        1. obviously they cant but ffp should affect all clubs otherwise its pretty much an open door to outcompete europe with high salaries which clearly isnt fair either.

          1. FFP was designed to protect clubs from overspend. That’s not an issue in Saudi as they don’t play in UEFA competitions and have unlimited money, in the same way Italian clubs used to between the 1980s – 2000s.

          2. I get that and of course saudi clubs can have financial issues as well, recently one of the clubs was refused to buy more players because they couldnt pay their players exorbitant salaries. Either way a ruleset like that which is prohibitive should hit all clubs and countries and its not like teams with rich owners are allowed to just pour money into clubs just because they can afford it.
Either way ffp should be for all teams and countries to follow otherwise it should be abandoned,

  2. Saudi Arabia is spending money on clubs, because of the “oil problem” in the future. Like, world decision is to part ways with exponential growth of oil consumption.
It is obvious that Saudi state sees football like opportunity where they going to find money from the future, after oil domination fades away.

    1. There is a lack of IP advancements, certainly not being made at exponential rates that can guarantee growth in a capitalist economy.

More people cannot afford fuel and consume much less so I think you are right. They are preparing for a global economic shift and what people spent on fuel, they will spend on entertainment at home. So this will maintain an income stream.
