Albertini tells Milan fans to be patient over Bennacer: “We need to give him time”

By Oliver Fisher -

Demetrio Albertini has offered his thoughts on AC Milan’s current situation as well as Ismael Bennacer.

On Tuesday morning there was ‘Legends of Style’ event in which Barcelona and Milan celebrated their 120th birthdays together.

A number of legends from both clubs were present to mark the occasion, one of whom was Albertini who took time out to talk to journalists about the situation of the Rossoneri club.

“As a fan it hurts, because you would always like to see the team at the top,” he said, via MilanLive.it.

“But we must not always think of making comparisons with the past, otherwise we do not really come out of it. We need to think about what to do today for the future, how to build an ever better team. In the last games we have seen a proper Milan in the field.”

During his time with Milan, Albertini wore the number four shirt  which is currently occupied by Bennacer, a player who Demetrio is a fan of even if he does believe that he requires patience.

“He’s doing well. Over time he will gain more experience. I had to have more experienced people alongside me, but he has even younger companions around him.

“We need to give him time, he has good qualities to be able to stay in the midfield.”

Interestingly, Sky Italia reported on Tuesday that the Rossoneri are thinking about the idea of signing a new midfielder to play in front of the defence, with Bennacer potentially moving into the mezz’ala position.
