Algeria coach states Bennacer is ‘struggling’ at Milan outcast: “I hope he returns”

This summer seemed to be Ismael Bennacer’s last at AC Milan. However, he remains with the club, at least for now.

There were several interested parties in Bennacer this summer, but there was always an issue, either with him or the team themselves. For example, he rejected a move to Saudi Arabia, but when Juventus and Bologna were sniffing, they were the ones that didn’t fancy a move.

As it stands, there is one offer left on the table; in Turkey, where the window is open until September 12, Trabzonspor are interested in the Algerian midfielder, and there is an offer on the table. However, he was reportedly waiting for something else.

Given nothing arrived, perhaps that will now be considered.

Bennacer ‘struggling’

In the meantime, though, clubs are already looking at the first international break of the season, and Vladimir Petković, the head coach of the Algerian National Team, spoke about the midfielder and his situation, as Francesco Nasato relayed.

“He is struggling physically without any preparation; he trained with Milan Futuro and immediately suffered other physical problems. I hope he returns at his best because he is very important for our national team.”

  1. Once he leaves Milan, I hate to say this, but I think he might retire from playing early. Once you are hit with that many physical problems maybe it is time to call it a day on playing?

    1. honestly speaking players of his size have to be careful with how they play once they turn 25 from my experience. Once you turn 25 you cannot be playing as strong of a physical game as you did when you were younger, unless you are physically blessed like Messi. I still think Milan should have sold him as soon as a substantial offer came in for him because the writing was on the wall that considering how he plays it is a strong possibility that he will get a serious injury.

He needs to switch his game, his training methods and focus more on recovery than training honestly. I mean this, Messi and a lot of shorter players have to focus on recovery more than training to keep themselves fit. Bennacer needs to do that and his diet needs to be looked at.
