AC Milan will get their 2026-27 Serie A campaign underway tonight against Torino, with Ruben Amorim hoping for a win on debut.
It has been a very big summer for Milan, with changes at virtually every level. Amorim is the man at the helm and he has been given plenty of power by Gerry Cardinale. His first ever game as a Serie A coach is a tough trip to Torino, managed by ex-Milan defender and Primavera coach Ignazio Abate.

Torino vs. AC Milan: Key stats
➤ Milan have won their last two Serie A matches against Torino, as many as in their previous seven (D2 L3). Furthermore, in their last six meetings in the tournament, a total of 26 goals have been scored (4.3 on average per match), after at least one side had failed to score in six of the previous seven matches (2.2 on average).
➤ Torino are unbeaten in 11 of their last 13 Serie A home games against AC Milan (W5 D6). However, the Granata lost their last home match against the Rossoneri in the competition (2-3 in December 2025) and could suffer back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Rossoneri in front of their fans for the first time in the competition since 2007 and 2008 (excluding forfeit defeats).
➤ Torino have won only one of their nine Serie A season-opening matches against the two Milanese teams (Inter and Milan), the first ever, on 17 September 1939, at the Filadelfia stadium, a 2-1 victory against the Rossoneri thanks to goals from Libero Marchini and Walter Petron.
➤ Ruben Amorim could become the first foreign coach to win the opening match of the Serie A season at the helm of AC Milan since Leonardo, on 22 August 2009, against Siena, also away (2-1 for the Rossoneri).
➤ Torino are unbeaten in their last six Serie A home games (i.e., in the six home games under Roberto D’Aversa). During this period, the Granata have scored at least two goals per match (14 in total for an average of 2.3 per game) and collected 14 points (4W, 2D): as many as they combined in all of their previous 13 home games last season (4W, 2D, 7L).
➤ After remaining unbeaten in 24 consecutive Serie A matches (W15 D9), Milan have lost seven of their last 13 matches (W5 D1) of the tournament (54%). In that period (since matchday 26), only Pisa (12), Hellas Verona and Cremonese (nine each) have suffered more defeats than the Rossoneri (seven, like Lecce) in the top flight.
➤ AC Milan scored the most goals from penalties in Serie A 2025/26, having converted seven of nine. Furthermore, in the previous five seasons of the tournament, the Rossoneri had only scored more goals from the spot in 2020/21 (15 in that case).
➤ Torino was the only team in Serie A 2025/26 not to have conceded a goal from a direct or indirect free kick and one of three in the top five European tournaments to have done so, along with Stuttgart (in the Bundesliga) and Angers (in Ligue 1).
➤ With his 11 goals last season for Torino, Giovanni Simeone became only the third player to reach double figures in goals in a season with at least five different clubs in Serie A history, after Enrico Chiesa (five) and Alberto Gilardino (six). Simeone scored 17 goals for Hellas Verona in 2021/22, 14 for Fiorentina in 2017/18, 12 for Cagliari in 2019/20, 12 for Genoa in 2016/17, and 11 for Torino in 2025/26.
➤ In his three seasons with PSG (from 2023/24 to 2025/26), Gonçalo Ramos (45 goals) recorded the best minutes/goal average among Ligue 1 players with a club in all competitions: one goal every 120 minutes on average (min. 50 games).
