One of AC Milan’s biggest priorities is signing a striker in the summer, and they must find someone who can guarantee goals.
As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning, it’s no secret that Milan’s top priority ahead of 2026-27 is to sign a centre-forward capable of scoring a significant number of goals. The reason is simple: since the 2011-12 season, Milan haven’t had a player capable of scoring at least 20 goals.
The last player to do so was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who topped the scoring charts that season with 28 goals. The fact that he has retired since – and is now part of the team of directors that will make the decision on who the next striker is – says a lot.
Allegri’s request
The paper state this morning that Allegri is pushing hard with the management to bring a quality centre-forward to Milanello who can be decisive in both Serie A and the Champions League. Yet in recent seasons, the Rossoneri have already invested heavily in this position.
in January 2025, for example, Milan spent over €30m on Santiago Gimenez , while last summer they signed Christopher Nkunku for a whopping €40m. However, both have disappointed, and as a result the search is underway again.
Tuttosport then provide a table with the scoring performances of Milan’s strikers over the last 14 years. It starts from Giampaolo Pazzini , who scored 15 goals in the 2012-2013 season, and goes up to Gimenez and Alvaro Morata, authors of just 5 goals in the 2024-25 season.
Those who came closest to 20 goals were Carlos Bacca in 2016-17 (18) and Jeremy Menez in 2014-15 (16). This is why Milan need a great centre forward.

Gimenez could do it. Her just needs some time. But there is no time in this high tier football league. If they want to be champions, they need a high scoring player now. But with what money? And which 20-goal player isn’t already playing higher than Milan.
I guess you haven’t watched Jimenez play at Milan at all, because so far he’s failed at the 9 under Max. Not string enough to hold up the CB’s, poor ball control, bad touches, not scoring….
But yea, let’s hope it was because of his ankle and he’s coming back a completely different player.
Lewandowski is the only name that comes to mind that will be affordable if we can get around his salary demands. Maybe Guirassy is worth a look at…20 goal strikers are not sold these days and if they do come available its at exorbitant rates and you will have a host of teams in the premier league to compete with.
Agree, Lewandowski is the only one that comes to mind that seems to be within Milan’s reach.
Actually milan must change their game plan, how they build attack. The way Allegri play, I doubt they have 20 goals from their strikers. Allegri man will win with 1-0 it’s enough. Thats Italian calcio
How many pass the striker receives from the midfielder before they can score goals?
No pass to the striker
