Massimiliano Allegri has asked the AC Milan management to make an attempt for Roma midfielder Manu Kone, a report claims.

In recent weeks, Milan have been linked with various midfield targets including Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka, Valencia’s Javi Guerra and another Kone: Ismael at Sassuolo. Now, there is a new name that has emerged, apparently via Allegri’s request.

Max wants Manu

According to MilanVibes, during one of the meetings held between the management and coach Allegri, Manu Kone’s name emerged strongly among the candidates. It’s clear that Inter are far ahead of the Rossoneri, but he’s still one of the players the coach would like to have in his squad.

The main obstacle appears to be the midfielder’s price tag, which is currently holding back even their city rivals. His name has long been on the Rossoneri’s radar and they have already attempted to bring him to the club several times.

Before his arrival at Borussia Monchengladbach, Milan tried to lane Kone when he was at Toulouse but didn’t get it over the line. Roma then acquired him for a fee around €18m from the Bundesliga side, and he has become one of the best in the league in the box-to-box role.

Manu Koné is once again on the shortlist of players favoured by Allegri and the management. Geoffrey Moncada has long been a huge admirer of his compatriot too, so the signs point towards at least an attempt being made.

The Champions League could well be crucial: if Milan get it over Roma then it is a huge card in their favour, but if they miss out then Inter would be well ahead, or if the Giallorossi get in then he may choose to stay.

        1. Nope he has the characteristics they need.

I’m not opposed to transfers. I’m opposed to the wrong types of transfers and too many of them.

  1. 2 summers ago Kone was waiting on Milan until the end of the mercato but Milan couldn’t get rid of the biggest waste of money and space in the squad since Origi and Kone end up signing for Roma.

  2. He has the right characteristics.

They need someone physical in there. They can’t have 3 x 30+, two of which are technical.

  3. Kone’s a good player but ffs do we literally not care about attacking play at all? You cant fill the team with defensive midfielders and a poacher like Vlahovic or Lewandowski

  4. Kone would be a good player to start next to Rabiot and Modric. Sell Fofana and bring in Guerra to have as backup together with Jashari and Ricci.

Then get Gila and 2 really good No9s.

Another more offensive two-way midfielder would be a luxury, but a classic mezzala like Kone, a CB and 2 CFs feel like the priority.

    1. This would be ideal

If they could snatch Bernardo Silva in end as well, I feel like we would at least be worthy to participate in UCL ✨

  5. Two Kone transfers too late. Our moment was getting him from Toulouse or Moenchengladbach. As usual, like with so many others, the club chose poorly. Hugo Ekitike (injury aside) is another recent example.

Roma will certainly not let him go for anything less than 50M, and that’s not a price this Milan pays, particularly in a summer when we need a similarly priced striker. Might as well focus on Goretzka on a free transfer or Ismael Kone.

  6. Kone has been wanted since Maldini days. As usual, 3-4 years late like with Walker. And then we end up getting a player a shell of what they were. This has Bondo part 2 written all over it. We’ll get him but don’t use him. Especially depending on who stays or goes. If we keep all our current mids, he’s definitely not breaking into the starting XI, so why purchase an expensive backup….. Once more 🙄
