‘Needed a bit of booing’ – Allegri believes Leao will benefit from San Siro treatment

In the game against Udinese, Rafael Leao was jeered rather heavily and noticeably. However, Massimiliano Allegri believes it can be a good thing for AC Milan.

Of course, when a player is booed, it is not great. For them to be booed, there has to be a reason. So, when the Portuguese star was jeered throughout the game and when exiting the pitch, many had worries about what it would do.

When there are plenty of suggestions surrounding the topic of his future anyway, it is not ideal.

However, it could be something to spur him on, to help him realise that his performance must be raised back to the previous levels. The only way to see will be to watch tomorrow’s game against Hellas Verona.

Allegri’s view on the boo

In his press conference today, Allegri was asked about the jeering and his response was perhaps a little unexpected.

“Leao certainly needed a bit of booing; he understood that life doesn’t always go smoothly. He’ll have a good reaction: he had a good week of training like everyone else. I’m convinced the forwards will start scoring again.

“The team will have to get back to playing in order. Against Udinese, we weren’t even on the defensive for a minute: we were too disorganised.”

Whether it will have the hoped-for effect will be seen shortly; an improvement, if nothing else, is a must.
