Massimiliano Allegri’s squad are continuing their work at Milanello ahead of the huge game against Napoli, and some tactical indications are arriving.
The international break is over and Serie A action will get back underway this weekend. With Milan and Napoli one point apart in the table, and with Inter faltering a bit at the top, this could be the game that allows a main contender to emerge.
The ‘cage’ for Hojlund
As we read in today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanPress), Allegri is paying particular attention to Rasmus Hojlund in his preparations for the trip to Naples. He is the top scorer for Conte’s men, with 10 goals in the league.
Allegri is mindful of the fact that Matteo Gabbia kept the Dane quiet in the first league meeting of the season. His three-man defence for Monday’s game is already set, with Gabbia out: Fikayo Tomori, Koni De Winter and Strahinja Pavlovic will marshal the back line.
It is the same defensive unit that started in the last five rounds of Serie A, in which the Rossoneri obtained three victories against Cremonese, Inter and Torino, plus two defeats against Parma and Lazio, with four goals conceded.
The Easter Monday match will also be a great opportunity for redemption for De Winter, who had great difficulties in the last match against Hojlund, the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final.
The former Manchester United striker, along with David Neres, terrorised the entire Rossoneri defence, especially the Belgian who then improved in the following months.
