CorSport: Allegri at the centre of Milan’s new project – how a 48-hour blitz was decisive

Massimiliano Allegri is getting ready to return to AC Milan, 15 years after he first took charge of the club, and it comes after a 48-hour blitz.

After two spells at the helm of Juventus – the most recent having concluded after the 2023-24 season – Milan welcome back the coach that won the 18th Scudetto in 2010-11, and the Supercoppa Italiana a few months later.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) report, Allegri met with Milan’s top management yesterday afternoon in the offices of his agent Giovanni Branchini and signed his new contract. Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare and Paolo Scaroni were there too.

A crucial two days

Allegri has signed a two-year contract with options for a third and fourth year, and will replace Sergio Conceicao who company was parted with yesterday. The coach’s salary, one of the crucial issues, will be around €5.5m net per season plus bonuses.

Milan got the coach’s approval in a very short time, around 48 hours. The credit, the paper states, goes entirely to the new sporting director Igli Tare. As soon as he took office, he began a suffocating push towards the coach, explaining a relaunch project that puts Allegri at the centre.

Max has received guarantees on the transfer business too: he will have a say in everything and will take part in decisions on incoming or outgoing transfers. The official announcement is expected in the next few hours.

The coach will begin the round of phone calls with his new players in the next few hours. There will be time for introductions but above all to explain that Milan’s project is aimed at becoming competitive again.
