There have been suggestions that AC Milan may look to sign a defender like Giorgio Chiellini this summer. It may not be needed, though.
It is understandable why Milan may want a defender like Chiellini. An iconic defender, Italian, strong and one of Massimiliano Allegri’s favourites from his time with Juventus. However, finding a new one is difficult.

Reports have suggested that the Italian has already requested a ‘Chiellini-like’ option for his squad. Though this may not actually be needed, at least not through the mercato.
New Chiellini already at Milan?
Initially, it seemed Giovanni Leoni was the ideal choice for this role in his team, but Corriere dello Sport journalist Antonello Gioia states that Strahinja Pavlovic could, in fact, fill that role, as MilanPosts relays on X.
The Serbian has ‘all the right traits’ to become a pillar for Allegri, just as Chiellini once was for the Old Lady. A tall, physical and ‘warrior-type’ defender, he is comparable to a younger version of the Italian stalwart.
However, he still needs to improve. His status and leadership qualities need work, whilst additional focus and man-marking skills need to be ironed out. For now, though, there is a new project in the backline, and Pavlovic can start to show his value even more.
It is offensive to Chiellini. He was actually one of the most intelligent defenders ever. Looked clumsy but rarely put in a wrong foot. Pavlovic falls apart for 5-10 minutes almost every game.
Finally allegri fall in love with him. So Milan can sell thiaw for now…
