In the past month or so, AC Milan have seen performances slip and this has caused them to fall back into the Champions League race.
It seemed Milan were in a good place before the Supercoppa Italiana. Yes, there were a few frustrating results here and there. On the whole, though, the Rossoneri were fighting for the Scudetto and looked quite safe in the European race.

But after back-to-back draws, things have changed. Now, that place in the top four cannot even be considered safe, and the Diavolo must start to pick up results soon. If they fail to do so, they will only have themselves to blame.
Allegri’s demand
This morning, it was reported that Massimiliano Allegri was furious after his team’s draw against Fiorentina and whilst he eventually calmed, he is still demanding a response on Thursday. Antonio Vitiello states that the manager wants to see mistakes fixed in his latest editorial for MilanNews.
“The two consecutive draws against Genoa and Fiorentina have significantly slowed Milan down in the standings.
“A step backwards in several respects. The first concerns their clinical nature. The Rossoneri squandered too many chances in the two 1-1 draws, a trait that, until a week ago, on the contrary, had saved Milan on several occasions.

“Three glaringly missed chances in Florence in the first half allowed the Viola to stay in the game and take the lead. Against Genoa, they attempted a staggering 33 shots to score just one goal. Then Genoa found the back of the net with their only shot on target.
“However, both matches showed a lack of intensity throughout the ninety minutes, several players out of form, and a lack of clarity in key moments. Allegri himself raised his voice at the end of the match in Tuscany.
“The idea the AC Milan coach conveyed was that the team failed to understand the mistakes made against Genoa and repeated them at the Franchi. Now the coach wants a concrete response against Como, a very delicate match.

The losses against smaller teams is Allegri fault the reason the team doesn’t press is because that’s his tactics to sit back but how can you sit back when your playing against 17th placed team?
Once we concede the team starts pressing and they score. This team needs to press from the beginning we can’t keep wasting these points Juve and Roma are behind us and are getting stronger while we are moving backwards
Let me guess, you prefer Fonseca or Conceicao?
ne seri dobro govori !!
He sets up the team to sit back and not press. Pressing and missing sitters are two different things. Yes, we created chances that we missed. But pressing was non-existent. We can easily get 1-2 goals if we press relentlessly for the first 15 minutes in the first half. We can then chill and press again for the first 15 minutes in the second half. We press for 30 minutes in total, just the same amount of time like when we go down 0-1 at the 60th minute. If we press hard enough we will score, we have seen that in the late equalizers. The legitimate reason to press is to be in the lead, the reason should never be because we are behind.
The team needs to press like a unit together, these individuals that wear the Ac Milan jersey just cant do it properly
Allegri would probably play more press but he also probably knows that most of those players dont have the athletiscm, stamina or the IQ to know when to press and when not to press.
Yeah, clearly it’s better to try & score the opener and maybe then start sitting back and defend after scoring but there isn’t a single reason to just defend 0-0 against bottom table teams right from the start.
Like I said yesterday… Statistically it’s better to win & lose two matches than drawing them both when you’re not playing against direct competitors. 3 points is more than 2.
“The idea the AC Milan coach conveyed was that the team failed to understand the mistakes made against Genoa and repeated them at the Franchi.”
It’s not that the team failed to understand the mistakes. It’s that against Fiorentina, he changed 6 of the 10 on-field players that played against Genoa. The entire midfield was changed and was made of players that had little to no chemistry together. The midfield was incredibly weak against La Viola.
Milan is over stretched on their performance man..
Is it time to go back normal?? haha 😀
According to Max ,the mistake that they failed to understand against Genoa and repeated it in Florence was that, in additional time the team have lacked the patience in moving the ball to create scoring opportunities. It’s crazy that he’s asking for more patience football especially in the dying minute! And I wonder why for two straight games all his concerns and explanations have been about handling the additional time better. Really mister? The 90 minutes of slow predictable football doesn’t matter as much?? Smh
We are not beating Como
For sure. We’re once again starting the game with “try not to lose” -attitude.
Alegri just needs to play more attacking football against smaller teams. Simple Fact. Our fitness department also needs a revamp. I dont understand players that are not up to speed halfway through the season. its like they are still in pre season except for the starters.
the fitness crew needs to step up intensity and get these players firing and fit for pressing and all that.
