Zufferli booked three of them, meaning that next weekend against Genoa – in addition to Luka Modric and maybe even Christian Pulisic – three more players will be missing. They are Rafael Leao, Alexis Saelemaekers and Pervis Estupinan, who lost their tempers in a match that was a disaster.
So, for the next game against Genoa at the Marassi, Allegri will have to reshape at least two-thirds of the team. While Estupinan is mostly Davide Bartesaghi’s back-up, Leao and Saelemaekers are a different story.
In attack, especially if Pulisic (who missed yesterday’s game with a gluteal muscle problem) doesn’t make the cut, Leao’s absence could pose a problem. The Portuguese’s less-than-stellar form isn’t ideal but he would still have got the nod.
Christopher Nkunku however came on and did very well against Atalanta, so is therefore a strong contender for a starting spot. On the right, in place of Saelemaekers, the most obvious option is his deputy Zachary Athekame.
If they win this game that is possibly enough to qualify for CL, I think Roma will lose the derby. Como can’t win 2 games in a row, it is science fiction for them. So hopefully they can get their sh*t together for a single game.

Even if you don’t believe it you should hope Milan will reach CL and that way at least they won’t have to sell more players to “cover” the “missing” money. I am actually more optimistic BECAUSE of these suspensions that I would have been without them. The only one of the three who has had a good spell of games is Alexis, but that seems like it happened ages ago, with the Juventus performance (mainly because of the defending) being literally his only good display during the second half of the season. Athekame is still a very raw talent, but the progress is there, the dude at least crosses the ball instead of dribbling it needlessly (which even last night lead to a missed opportunity simply because the defender knew exactly what Alexis was about to do).
It will be a very slim bench at Genoa. They will need a few Futuro players for depth.
On the positive side, with Sallad banned, Allegri might have no choice but to switch to 4-3-3 with Bartesaghi-Pavlovic-De winter and Athekame in the back 4. If Pulisic is back we have Nkunku-Gimenez-Pulisic as the front three. Midfield will be Rabiot-Ricci-Fofana. That team have a better chance to beat Genoa then 3-5-2 and Leao up top
Leao getting banned is the best that happened yesterday.
Sadly, if Milan do somehow qualify for CL next season, it will allow RedBird’s maximum objective of Top4. Then why would anything change? This management has shown a complete disregard of any sporting objectives.
Where it hurts RedBird is not qualifying for CL second year running. Then you have to have a reaction because then you’re cutting into profit margins… There are only so many players you can sell.

Sorry but not qualifying for CL will absolutely be worse than if we do qualify. At least with qualifying we can have the hope of using the money and not totally overhauling the team. Not getting too 4 means selling a lot of the players revolutionising the whole squad looking for a new patch and a whole new project to then probably have a failed experiment similar to fonseca and Concecao
As much I want Redbird to leave and hate how they’ve managed the club is not making top 4 won’t mean Redbird will sell. It’ll mean they will overhaul and have to penny pinch and it’ll be another banter era. At least with top 4 we can get the money, build from there, but yes there needs to be change and we can’t keep doing this type of game play next year
