Strahinja Pavlovic will be at Massimiliano Allegri’s disposal for tomorrow’s clash between Milan and Parma, and there is one thing the Serbian can improve upon.
Pavlovic received a nasty knock against Como and Milan initially feared a broken fibula. Thankfully, it was just a case of heavy bleeding, which has significantly reduced the recovery time. In fact, as Allegri confirmed during his presser earlier today, he’s already available.

Granted that the centre-back is still struggling with some pain and discomfort, he will be on the bench tomorrow. The latest reports suggest that he will be benched anyway, with Koni De Winter taking his spot on the left, but you can’t fault his fighting spirit.
Room for improvement
During the presser, Allegri was also asked if Pavlovic frustrates him at times, seeing as the centre-back has made a habit of running up the pitch with the ball. It seems to be 50-50 on the outcome, i.e. if Milan benefit from the runs or if they get counters against them.
As opposed to the runs specifically, though, Allegri wants the centre-back to improve his ball control…

He might look clumsy due to his large frame but the way he sometimes recapture lost balls also shows that he is absolutely not without technique. Personally I think he has a great deal of potential to become one of the best center backs around.
I just dont think he can adjust his feet quick enough to be a top defender, thats both in the defensive fase where a tricky winger like Saka will tie him in knots and in the attacking fase where he bulldozes forward until he loses control of his legs or the ball.
Also there have been technically superior defenders like David Luiz who loved to roam forward, but eventually it led to disaster, CB need to be disciplined
I think he is the kind of guy who looks decent in Serie A but CL or world cup he will be a liability against top teams
That’s fixed with something called “COACHING”.
Pav is our most promising defender, excellent at 1v1s and often carries the ball 40yds up the field all on his own. He’s the future if the backline so coach the few kinks out of his game and there you go.
Yeah he often dribbles right into danger. He is a good defender and player but that is his flaw. He exposes the team to a counter fairly regularly with his over dribbling. At this point I’m pretty certain it’s a trap by opponents to create a gap in the defensive line. You can tell it’s tactical by the 50 meters of space he consistently given.
Don’t get me wrong I like the overloads he can create with his aggression offensively however he needs to be way more precise with when he does it and need to improve his vision. Dude dribbles himself into a trap every time
Pavlovic is a professional footballer not a kid playing football for the first time. What makes professionals play at a higher level is their ability to do the basic things at expert level.
Allegri shouldn’t have to coach pavlovic on how to control the ball. He should stay after training and practice with his own personal coach and practice.
His dribbles are fuckn dangerous of cause a risk for us but rly dangerous for the opponents. Thanks to his big frame they cannot just push in over like kunku I think he should keep doing this we just need someone to drop if he does this
