Allegri, Fabregas and the rest – why Milan must decide on head coach soon

At present, there are several names floating around the AC Milan manager position, and there is no clarity on offer just yet. Potentially, this needs to change soon.

In a market where timing is everything, Milan must quickly put together a plan of action for the future. Simply put, the Rossoneri do not have the time to dally and allow others to gain an advantage, especially in a market where quality is difficult to come by.

Of course, we must start with the key part of the search – a new sporting director. Whilst interviews have begun this week, a decision is not expected for another week or two yet, so there can not really be any movement until that point.

In the meantime, whilst waiting for this decision, consider using the Dafabet app to find some fantastic odds.

Whilst we can make guesses based on the candidates selected for the new sporting director, these do not offer any guarantees either, as we do not know how much weight will be held by the management.

Previously, Zlatan Ibrahimovic held this role, and he was instrumental in choosing head coaches, but with Giorgio Furlani now in control, we do not know how far his power stretches.

Looking at the candidates themselves, there is also a need to act fast. Massimiliano Allegri was the favourite, according to the media, for a long time, but a word from his mentor Giovanni Galeone now has caused a potential reshuffle.

Cesc Fabregas, the favourite of Furlani, is a target for many of Europe’s top clubs, and his own choice may be to remain with Como for another year, which would write him out of contention for some time – it is unlikely that the Diavolo hire for 12 months with no guarantees.

Barring that duo, it is a mixed bag, filled with ideas and little knowledge.

Of course, there is the chance that Sergio Conceicao remains in charge, but that is reliant on several quotas being filled. Even then though, perhaps the bridge is too damaged to continue, given there have been rumours about his future for a while already.

Perhaps then there is the idea of Thiago Motta, who has just been sacked from his post as the Juventus head coach. Last summer, the Rossoneri were quite interested in the coach, so could revisit the idea, but again, there is no knowledge of any interest.

Finally, Antonio Conte lurks in the background with his own destiny yet to be decided. Despite not being interested last summer, his name stays involved in the race. Perhaps, it is finally time to have a date with destiny. However, this is reliant on Napoli’s position.

At present, there is only really one coach where the Diavolo would, theoretically, have control of the future. In other words, Milan need to put their future in their hands, rather than allowing it to be made for them.

  1. Anyone but allegri!
Fabregas is an exciting idea but look at what happened to motta.
Very big risk for these new coaches to move to big clubs.
Como and bologna don’t have much pressure like milan and juve.
If milan is still going for young coach i’d rather them go for de zerbi.
At least he has more experience abroad.
