It probably goes without saying, but Massimiliano Allegri was not happy with the performance he saw from his AC Milan side in Sassuolo.
Milan were limp and lacklustre for pretty much the entirety of Sunday afternoon’s game at the Mapei Stadium as they fell to a 2-0 defeat that once again jeopardises the chances of getting a Champions League spot.

Domenico Berardi got the opening goal early on, then Fikayo Tomori was given his marching orders after a second yellow, before Armand Lauriente bagged within a couple of minutes of the restart to effectively seal the win.

Immediately after the final whistle, Allegri described his players’ performance as their worst of the season. According to Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), the coach could be heard shouting in the dressing room: “We’re not like that!”
The paper goes on to state that Allegri will repeat the same sentiment to the team today when training resumes at Milanello. There will be no upheavals or revolutions, but the manager will speak to the team and remind them that a top four finish is still within grasp.
The message to the team – after the initial anger – was a bit more composed on Sunday too: “Let’s keep our heads up and stay united, our destiny is still in our hands.” With Roma’s win putting them three points behind in fifth, the Rossoneri really must rebound quickly.
Does Allegri ever look in the mirror? You’ve got offensive player after player not scoring and it’s their the problem. Yes, ACM will nick a goal eventually and all will be well.
Allegri doesn’t play attacking football or to win with a team that doesn’t have all the pieces he needs. he plays not to lose. Which is what we often saw with Juve too. That’s what he’s doing now – trying not to lose enough times to clinch the Scudetto.
The only way he actually plays calcio is if his team is fully assembled. Unfortunately he doesn’t realize RedBird will never truly assemble a team he will require. Once he gets that, he’s out too. Probably end of next season.
Allegri n Leao need to leave.
This guy gave out Pirlo on a free transfer, I will never forget that.
It is not only about the players, but Allegri too.
He is no different with Fonseca or Conceicao.
Milan just played like this always, all this season, no matter we win or not. Just run the ball forward.
Thank God we got Rabiot and Modric, and also Mike Maignan still with us. They are the backbone of this team for this season.
No prove of tactics under Allegri. Just play simple, get the ball, and run forward. And if we have lead, just defense total.
No fast counter attack, no pressing, no play good passing. Better seeing Pioli than Allegri if Milan still played like this.
