‘Five players from the Primavera’ – Allegri mentions Camarda and Comotto as 2026/27 additions

Next season, AC Milan will almost definitely be playing Champions League football, and Massimiliano Allegri revealed how he will be helped through the campaign.

Ahead of next year, there needs to be investment into the Milan squad, that much is known already. However, there may also be a lot of room for the current players and even some out on loan currently.

The reasoning is rather simple, too. UEFA require a set amount of homegrown players to feature in the squad. So, Allegri and the management will have to consider this moving forward, especially if Champions League football is confirmed soon.

This means that players like Francesco Camarda and Christian Comotto could be rather key for the Rossoneri, whilst the likes of Matteo Gabbia and Davide Bartesaghi – both of whom are already fully fledged members of the first team – continue to be vital.

Allegri’s Futuro admission

Allegri was asked about ‘expanding’ the squad ahead of next season in his press conference today and his reply gave some insight into the plan.

With the Champions League coming up, it’ll be necessary to expand the squad. In speaking with the club, have you noticed that your desire to have experienced players has been accepted by the management?

“Everyone needs to be aligned on the best of Milan, the club. But until we reach our goal, we can’t say ‘last year’. Reaching that goal will shift the transfer window by €100 million. We’re having discussions—it’s always nice—about evaluating this year’s season so far.

“Then we’ll evaluate and make decisions. The transfer window won’t be easy, especially regarding improving the squad. It’s one thing to have one competition, another to have three. The squad will need to be expanded.

“Camarda will return, as will Comotto, who, along with Gabbia, Bartesaghi, and Torriani, make up five players from the youth academy. It’s a good job, and he should be a key player for Milan’s future. This means you can invest more resources in more experienced players that you’re signing from outside.”

  1. I’ve been telling this the whole time since I started writing the comments here instead of just reading them like I used to, Comotto/Zeroli and Camarda plus 25 more or less experienced players, let’s go!

  2. If we add Comotto, going for Goretzka makes even less sense. I would prefer Guerra or Kone for the 7th spot. Guerra upgrading RLC and the addition of Comotto will have more of an impact than Goretzka of all players…

Camarda addition also means Sorloth-esque striker will be not pursuited. Leao’s sale seems inevitable and a classical n9 will come in his place, with Gimenez and Camarda for depth. That leaves Pulisic and Nkunku as supporting strikers.

Then the unending rumors about Gila for CB and maybe 2 CB rumors is true, since right now we only need CM/CDM, ST (which will be financed by Leao sale), CB and a LB (total 4). so, additional CB like Ake (who won’t cost much, has exp and a deal can be done quickly) makes sense.

Ake, Gila and Grimaldo should be close to 50M and we have the funds for them (summer guaranteed sales ~40M and 20-25M from RLC and Estupinan sales). So we can use money from Chukwueze and Musah potential sales to a buy quality player for midfield.

  3. I don’t think anyone expects Gimenez to be at Milan next season. But Carmarda and Comotto are certainly not going to be improvements.

  4. of course they return. their loans end, what else should they do? most likely they be loaned out again a few weeks later, but before that they return.

    1. Why talk about academy raised players and needing reinforecements in the same sentance? That’s what weird, but other than that of course they need couple more years on loan.

        1. The point of a loan is for a player to get experience playing with senior players and also experience different situations, to get tougher mentally. Players that fail are failures, loans have nothing to do with it.

  5. Better for them left club. They will not start play again here. They need him only for registration for Champions league.
