Tuttosport: Allegri and Milan management agree on Bologna striker – the situation

Massimiliano Allegri continues to push for Santiago Castro to be AC Milan’s summer striker signing, a report claims.

While we wait to understand more about the evolution of the situation surrounding Dusan Vlahovic and other targets, Castro’s name remains standing. A few days ago he said to La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I’m happy in Bologna, but I don’t know how long I’ll stay here.”

Tuttosport (via MilanVibes) report that the Milan management are all big fans of Castro, who is regarded as similar to Lautaro Martinez in his movements (he’s known as ‘Lautarito’ and ‘Torito’ as well as ‘El Toto’ in his homeland).

This includes Allegri, who likes the Argentine also due to his adaptability to a three-man or a two-man attack. He is intelligent and capable of linking the play, while his growth under Vincenzo Italiano – linked as a potential replacement if Allegri leaves – is making him into a rounded modern striker.

Bologna’s demands will be extremely high, especially since they’d like to keep him for at least another season, but the widespread impression is that Milan will at least make an attempt to snatch the former Velez Sarsfield star.

Castro would be the ‘perfect striker for the new Milan’ in the eyes of the hierarchy, but after the best season of his career it will become a little more difficult to lure him away from the Rossoblu.

The 21-year-old continues to grow and adapt to Serie A, but he did only score eight goals in the league last season and has seven goals this season, so there would be question marks about if he is the high volume scorer Milan need.

    1. You mean like Lautaro? That scored 6 in his first season? It’s called buying a talented player you see potential in. Milan doesn’t have the money or the pull to get top players for 100+M.

  1. A football team is always the sum of its parts and all the great strikers have started from somewhere. Look at the career of Harry Kane. I think he should win Ballon d’Or now but back in the day he was loaned around. Then suddenly he burst out in flames and became the goal scoring machine we know today. In theory, Colombo could have a similar trajectory if everything fell into place, and a positive spiral began. Or not. It’s always a gamble.

    1. True, remember there was a season where Patrick Cutrone was our top scorer with 18 goals, and look where he is now, didn’t develop him just wasted him and is now playing in Serie B, same goes for Andrea Petagna, another wasted talent.

    2. Kane was prolific from a young age. It was clear his finishing and movement were exceptional and he was strong. Colombo is none of those things.
