Massimiliano Allegri was asked an intriguing question regarding AC Milan’s planning if they get back into the Champions League.
Allegri and the directors have always been clear about one thing heading into the current season: that finishing in the top four and returning to Europe’s premier competition is the one major aim. Given that Milan are second and three points off top (but also one point off fifth), they are on course so far.

Milan’s UCL planning
During his pre-match press conference on the eve of the Como game – which we translated in full – Allegri was asked what Milan would do if they did return to the Champions League next season.
More specifically, he was asked if the plan is to return to the top club competition and be a protagonist or if they would be happy just to participate, and if there could be more painful sales like Sandro Tonali and Tijjani Reijnders.
“Let’s take it one step at a time. We’re trying to finish in the top four. In the Champions League, there are teams with world-class revenues. Real Madrid has a turnover of over a billion, Bayern Munich has 975 million. That gap is difficult,” he said.
“In the meantime, we hope all the Italian teams advance in Europe to allow five teams to qualify for the Champions League. Qualifying would be important from a technical and financial perspective. Let’s focus on what to do this year, we’ll see what to do next year.”

Imagine not selling them and now both of them playing.
Oh yes indeed, imagine the team we could have
We will have a major budget deficit this summer, so sales are inevitable.
How do we increase our squad size to cope with CL games when we have a negative transfer spend?
Problem is we dont really have anyone that is as saleable as those 2.
Bartesaghi is probably the only one
I wouldn’t exclude a Leao sale. Or even the Saladman for “capital gains”
Oh I don’t exclude anything!
I think there is more chance of Pulisic leaving to be a squad player at Liverpool
Leao is hard on the eye these days, I think those big clubs will watch a few games and switch off
More likely to be Pulisic. He’s going to be odd man out when Allegri gets a true 9.
