Massimiliano Allegri is not planning for anything but continuing with AC Milan, knowing that a crucial summer window awaits.

As Corriere della Sera report, Allegri is thinking above all about the derby on Sunday and finishing in the top four. Certainly not leaving, therefore. He said it himself a few days ago: “I’m very happy to be back. I spent eight years at Juve, I’m in my fifth at Milan, we can have a significant journey here too.”

Of course, approaching Sunday night’s big match at San Siro while wondering about the future of Allegri wasn’t exactly ideal. The reality is that in these days leading up to the match, a single question is fuelling discussions in bars and on social media, and it’s not about whether Pulisic will start.

What Milan fans want to know is: what does Allegri intend to do? Will he stick to his contract until 2027, with an option to extend it to 2028 at €5m net? Or should we expect a dramatic turn of events?

Allegri’s requests

Allegri knows full well that Inter have one hand on the Scudetto trophy, but he certainly has no intention of giving up before the end. Every effort is aimed at securing qualification for the Champions League, to achieve the mission asked of him by the management last summer.

The coach wants to stay in Milan, which he considers home. Above all, he wants to stay at Milan, where he’s wanted to return for years. He hasn’t changed his mind, even more so now that he sees the possibility of returning to the Champions League.

After achieving this goal, he’ll want to meet with the management to make a wide-ranging assessment, with the transfer market as his primary focus. It will be crucial to expand the squad with the return to playing midweek, including with experienced players who can make a difference right away.

This year hasn’t been straightforward in terms of the mercato, neither in the summer nor in January. He wanted a centre-back in January while Furlani negotiated for Mateta. He would rather have another experienced midfielder than the teenager André.

Speaking of strikers, Allegri is looking for a player who’s already ready, preferably one who knows Serie A and its ins and outs. In short: while respecting the roles, he wants to have a greater say in shaping the future of the squad.

And what if that doesn’t happen? It’s a scenario no one wants to consider, especially the players, who are very attached to him. The Real Madrid option is more of a suggestion than a concrete idea. Florentino is considering yet another change, but there’s no sign of any contact.
