Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Nicolo Fagioli is a target for AC Milan and it appears that the links are only getting stronger.
Fagioli is one of the latest additions to Milan’s growing list of midfield maybes, and there are several reasons why the move could occur. In fact, a move may even be strengthened by the future of Luka Modric.
Modric appreciation
According to MilanNews, the Italian idolises the Croatian midfielder and Massimiliano Allegri sees him as a ‘viable alternative’ to the Ballon d’Or winner when he is not available. Considering that the number of games will rise next season, there are doubts about whether Modric would be able to feature in them all.
The chance to learn from and perhaps even play alongside him, would be a massive draw for Fagioli.
Allegri’s role
There is also the Allegri factor itself and there are two branches to this. Firstly, the former Juventus coach has known of Fagioli for some time now, given he rose through the ranks with the Bianconeri. In fact, he has been a long-standing admirer of his.
So, a re-union could be on the cards there. Though, it would also be supported by their shared agent. As the report continues, Giovanni Branchini now represents both of them, so a move could be facilitated.

Like I’ve said, if there is an offer for Jashari he is gone and Fagioli is coming in. Same with Fofana and Kone.
Fagioli would be a decent addition. But it’s hard to 1. See him come this summer; 2. See Jashari leave this summer given what they paid for him and that he’s barely played; and 3. Not see Modric return for another year.
Jashari needs a consistent year of playing to understand if he’s any good at being a regista.
Yes, give him 3 years too understand. This is top football, you get 10-20 games and if you’re not it, bye. If someone comes with 30M in the summer he is gone, just watch. Maybe it doesn’t happen but I don’t think Allegri would pick him over Fagioli, if he was given that choice. Fagioli could be bought for that money (maybe even less). He’d also probably want to join Allegri again so I’m not sure it’s hard to see him come next season. Allegri wants someone reliable when he doesn’t have Modric or he wants to rest him and he knows Fagioli perfectly. Fagioli spent his youth career as an attacking midfielder, so he can slot in one of the 2 other positions better than Ricci or Jashari.
Jasahri hasn’t even had the 15-20 full games tou talk about. I’m no fan of his, but I just think it’s hard to get a gauge on him with Modric playing all the time and Jasahri getting scraps… I get we paid too much on him, but he needs consistent minutes to show what he has. Also it’s for this same exact reason that I don’t see anyone throwing 30mil in for him. Allegri needs to be able to “showcase” him for Milan to offload him.
It’s Ricci that I don’t see much utility in. I guess I’m curious how the summer plays out, but so far with Modric, Jashari and Ricci here, it’s tough to see Fagioli come in.
Milan spent over 40M on Nkunku so you never know who will come in with a bid, right? Wasn’t Leeds after him? If they scouted him they didn’t forget him after 1 season and if I remember they were offering 45M to Brugge. I don’t see why would you have to showcase a young player that did good in Belgium a year ago to get 10M less than you paid last season, that is about the value that he dropped.
No I get that, but I just think if he had a bigger body of “work” he might be a player worth keeping and developing further. This year all out s*cked for him.
But hey, Max sees him in training every day – maybe he has a fully formed opinion of him already. That’s why I’m curious to see how he does the next few games.
It came back to me. It was Nothingam Forest, Leeds was after De Ketelaere a few years ago.
what makes more sense is that Jashari will be played as Rabiot sub and Fagioli will arrive as vice-regista. Fofana stays and we just get another player (Goretzka?) on top as RLC upgrade.
I think it’s clear from the 20 interviews that Allegri wants players that score goals in those positions. Rabiot and that is why he likes Kone. He expects 10 goals from those position and Jashari can’t score 1. That is why Ricci is playing there and Jashari goes in into Modrics position, as he can’t contribute forward in a way Allegri wants. And seems like he doesn’t think Ricci is good enough defensively and doesn’t want to put him behind.
Right. And we keep Musah (if we can’t sell him for a decent price) or maybe Bondo for one more season because everyone must be aware of the fact that we (will) need seven of them in the midfield in 2026/27, six just isn’t enough for a whole season considering CL is back again for us. Gila, Ake ?, Palestra, Fagioli, Goretzka, Grimaldo, Zirkzee, Ramos, just 1 version…
We Can add Sala the captain of Milan futuro as seventh MC instead of Bondo and Musah.
Christian Comotto.
Exactly! What a talent!
Wow, there’s gossip about an Italian player??? Wow!!!!!! Hey, I mean, never mind Comotto, who by the way is a fantastically bright talent, never mind him, to hell with him, instead we’ll have the likes of Fofana and Musah who resemble a bunch of fucking mules when they play, stumbling on their own feet 🙄
What a joke of a management and club!
Should have been Liberali but the management were geniuses.
Maybe but I hardly doubt it. On the other hand, it’s better to cash both Musah and Bondo and use that money for the other position(s) that need(s) to be reinforced than to keep them and give them 5-10 minutes (at best) in every third match…
Curious if Max can get anything out of Musah. That would be his greatest masterpiece.
he’s in level of Brescianini/ Pobega/ Ricci, not an upgrade for what we’ve
Lol Jashari isn’t going anywhere smh, Fagioli would be used as an 8, he’ll be Fofanas replacement when he leaves.
