CorSera: Allegri asks for more say on transfers – Lewandowski idea remains alive

AC Milan will have to make investments to boost the squad in view of a European return, and Robert Lewandowski remains a target.

As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) report, in recent weeks there have been plenty of rumours about Massimiliano Allegri’s possible departure at the end of the season. The reality is different: Milan, regardless of how the Scudetto race ends, will absolutely continue with their coach.

Allegri, as per his request, will be more involved in transfer strategies too. To be clear, a situation like the January window cannot happen again, when the coach asked for a defender and the management tried to sign a striker.

The dream reinforcement

With a return to the Champions League increasingly likely, Milan will have many more games to play, so one of their two priorities will be to increase the number of players available to Allegri in terms of squad side.

The other will obviously be to strengthen the core of the group with quality and experienced players, because next season the primary objective will be the Scudetto, not just a Champions League finish like this year.

A new centre-forward is the signing the directors certainly can’t afford to get wrong. Fiorentina’s Moise Kean, who has a €62m release clause (too much for AC Milan) has been frequently linked to the club in recent days.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, speaking to CBS, stated that Allegri likes players with character. For this reason, a striker who has long been on sporting director Igli Tare’s radar is Robert Lewandowski, whose contract with Barcelona is expiring.

The Pole may be 38 years of age, but he still knows how to score consistently, and that’s exactly the type of player the Rossoneri need. His leadership would help, and the signings of Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the past – plus Luka Modric last summer – show that age is just a number.
