AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has spoken with Dusan Vlahovic, but Lorenzo Lucca remains as a credible alternative.
During his press conference to journalists at Casa Milan late last month, Milan’s sporting director Tare confirmed that the club are looking for a striker who has almost the same physical and technical characteristics as Olivier Giroud.

“We are evaluating both in Italy and outside Italy: it is a question of characteristics and for our team’s game it is fundamental,” he said.
“He must be a player with completely different characteristics to those of Gimenez who is not a centre-forward like Giroud: we must be good at completing these two things together.
“[…] We are taking the necessary time to understand what shape the team will take but we have clear ideas about what type of player he will be, with the characteristics of a true centre-forward who can make the difference inside the area: this has been missing since Giroud’s farewell.”
Vlahovic or Lucca?
According to Alfredo Pedulla, Dusan Vlahovic has had further contacts with Allegri. The salary spread is an essential step but still to be done (€12m net per season). For this reason, as revealed on Friday, Milan have taken precautions with an in-depth inquiry for Lucca.
Allegri has expressed a favourable opinion on Lucca, which is why the Rossoneri made inquiries as revealed on Friday evening. The new coach ‘really likes the profile’ but the list contains three or four other names too, so the race is very much still open.
Im not really into idea of going for Lucca, would much rather take Osimhen or Boniface cause of more international experience and CL exp, but if Allegri wants him and thinks he fits his vision of play i say go for him. We could probably get him for max 25mil.
yup, also since fullbacks are a huge problem at the moment… LB are even worse case to due prices and quality than RB but neither is easy…
Lucca is a good option, he’s the direct successor to Vincenzo Iaquinta, a hard working target man with an eye for goal. Definitely a good option over some foreign names. Less trouble for the club.
Lucca is a viable gamble. Young, can hold up the ball but is also mobile and good in the air. At the price being quoted (25m) it’s not a bad punt

Lucca has always been the most realistic option
Vlahovic, for me, might not fit well into Milan’s system of play. Aside this, he is not in his best form, and, his wages will be a big issue for the team in general. Even if he takes a pay cut, to earn as low as €8m or €9m annually, other players will start demanding higher wages. Lucca, on the other hand, needs an inspirational coach, to become the beast that he can be. I still remember Didier Drogba at Marseille. Mourinho turned him into one of the best strikers in the world at Chelsea. Lucca can reach that height, but, I don’t see Allegri as the man that can bring out the best in him.
