This weekend, Massimiliano Allegri will revert his AC Milan team to a 3-5-2 and it appears that he is willing to take a risk on his front two.
In recent weeks, there have been plenty of calls for Milan to change shape. When they did that, against Udinese, they lost. In fact, they collapsed. Three goals against a mid-table side are bad enough.
However, there was no good to the Rossoneri. They were simply outclassed and they even looked more than a little lost. In other words, the 4-3-3 has been shelved again, with fans seeing a return to the 3-5-2 as a need.
Football can be incredibly fickle in its own way sometimes.
Allegri offers another chance
So, with the return to a 3-5-2, Allegri hopes to see his side return to the form that had them as Champions League certainties for most of the season, as Corriere dello Sport report this morning.
To further aid the change back, he will rely on his stars again. So, Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao will lead the line. It is no secret that they have been below average this season together, but this may be a final chance.
They haven’t delivered the results expected yet and that is the keyword. There is still hope that they can click in central roles together. If they do, the Champions League may become a more tangible reality.
The definition of stupidity: make the same mistake over and over again, expecting different outcomes. I’d go with Puli and Gimenez.
Gimemez the goaless 9? He has no ball control, can’t dribble past defenders, his shooting is never on target and he never takes the correct position in the box. He started all of Milan’s first 7 or 8 games and we saw all of the above each game. He was correctly dropped. Perhaps this layoff has done him some good?
Online well know if the layoff and surgery did him any good was if he gets a chance to play. Can’t do any worse than Leao.

Exactly. Why isn’t gimenez playing… Leao should be sitting on the bench and given 10 mins at the end. When hopefully we don’t need eleven players on the pitch.
We’ve seen gimenez work for the team before he was injured. Just send leao and fullkrug out on a day trip to Venice or to the zoo. Let them go shopping for shiny things.
This foolish action of forcing 2 wingers to keep playing in the centre isn’t making sense at all….. why the F is nose tape Santi who is a natural center forward isn’t playing? He and Puli works better than Leao when the team is out of possession.

The only thing I can figure is Allegri is keeping Santi on the bench so he doesn’t get injured again and he can be sold this summer. And Fullkrug has been pretty useless. And there is no chemistry between Leao and Puli. Allegri a banking on a moment of individual brilliance to win this game.
You can’t figure out why Santi is on the bench? Well he started all of Milan’s first 7 or 8 games, no goals, not even close, played terribly. Giminez’s poor play is the reason Allegri is forcing Leao into a position that he can’t play.
