In recent days there has been a lot of speculation about the future of Massimiliano Allegri, and some clarification has now arrived.

As MilanNews report, Allegri’s future at Milan has been called into question due to a number of different events. Italy’s failure to qualify for a third consecutive World Cup and the Rossoneri’s decline in the past few weeks have given the rumour of him taking the Azzurri job some momentum.

Allegri’s current stance

The report claims that Allegri ‘currently wishes to remain at Milan’. The Livorno-born coach is pleased to be back at Milanello and is happy with the atmosphere he has created with the team.

Indeed, Max has repeatedly stated throughout the year that the group he has at his disposal – both personally and professionally – is of a high standard. There is harmony between the players, Allegri, and his staff.

It’s undeniable that the coach desires the club’s support, especially when it comes to the mercato. The summer transfer window showed that with the right players, those particularly valued by the coach (Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot), the conditions for a change were beginning to emerge.

Last season, the club were in turmoil after finishing eighth, but Allegri has restored some calm and has even had the team fighting for the title for the majority of the season, despite a squad with 19 outfield players.

The coach therefore expects that this summer Milan will understand the need to move towards a certain type of profile to raise the overall level – both technical and otherwise – of the team and therefore compete seriously for a trophy, and not just aim for top four every year.
