Nicolo Fagioli is the number one midfield target for Massimiliano Allegri if he remains at AC Milan, a report claims.
As TMW recall, the new Fiorentina sporting director Fabio Paratici was crystal clear about Fagioli’s potential, stating: “He’s a Barcelona-worthy player.” These qualities, evidently, weren’t enough to get him back into the Italian national team fold.
Milan on alert
The fact that Gennaro Gattuso did not call up Fagioli was a surprise to many, but his focus now is solely on staying up with Fiorentina, the club that showed faith in him and have allowed him to return to playing at his best.
He’s undoubtedly been the best performer of La Viola’s difficult season, and this has made clubs take note. The source add that he is the first choice name in Allegri’s mind for Milan’s next midfield signing.
First, the Livorno-born coach will first have to confirm his permanence at the Rossoneri, and he’ll have to listen and understand the direction of the negotiations for the national team position. Despite denials so far, he’s Giovanni Malago’s top pick, should he become the next FIGC President.
There’s also the real possibility of him staying, so Fagioli’s candidacy is growing. Not only that: there is concrete interested in the Premier League and also from Atletico Madrid, with Diego Simeone a big admirer of Fagioli.
The 25-year-old is someone that Allegri will be very familiar with given his Juventus past. He has made 41 appearances for Fiorentina this season across all competitions, with three goals and three assists to his name thus far.

We should’ve got him a lot sooner, he’s a great talent and has made great progression, more so than Ricci. The league should put an incentive in place for Italian players if they wish the Azzurri to return to its former glory.
More so, Milan should go back to its origin, to have a big core of Italian players. Fagioli is a good first step.
Getting Bellanova as backup/competition for Saelesmaekers on the right wing back position would be a nice second step.
Sadly there arent any good Italian center forward types that Allegri likes around other then Moise Kean, and I think he would flop. Colombo isnt good enough either to carry a team like Milan, so there we have to go abroad.
As for central defenders, there is Comuzzo, but I would love to get Calafiori in as he is also left footed and would be a great complement to Pavlovic (loves to go forward like Pavlovic too). Hopefully he is unhappy with the minutes hes getting at Arsenal, and maybe a little homesick, and would concider a move.
Italian like Kean?

Fagioli no doubt has had a good season. In fact, I’m surprised he hadn’t been selected by Gattuso for the NT qualifiers. But he plays the same role as Jashari who can’t get minutes behind Modric as a 6, nor behind Fofana and Ricci asa a b2b. So where is Fagioli supposed to slot in?
I see Ricci as a 6 as well, even if he haven’t played there for us. I think Fagioli is better than Ricci as a box to box. If Modric stays I think it would be best to loan one of jashari and Ricci out
