AC Milan are required to sign at least one left-back this summer, and Massimiliano Allegri has a preference.
There have been several links to defenders in the past 18 months, and there will continue to be until Milan sign one. The reason why is clear: the Rossoneri need to replace Theo, and, in the unlikely case he stays, a new option is needed.

With this, there are multiple directions that could be taken. A young heir could be sought for the long term, or a middle ground could be brought in to bridge the gap until someone like Davide Bartesaghi is ready.
Allegri’s idea
As Calciomercato.com reports, though, Allegri is hoping to reunite with Andrea Cambiaso, whom he worked with at Juventus for two years. However, it is an ‘impossible mission’, largely due to the price. In fact, a similar situation is in place with Destiny Udogie, who is seen as too costly to bring back to Italy.
The two most obvious routes lead to Maxim De Cuyper and Oleksandr Zinchenko, both are likely to move this summer, and they are offering the most so far. The Belgian is being pursued by Premier League clubs, and Theo’s situation could be decisive in the deal.
For Zinchenko, the interest from others is not as high, but Allegri and Igli Tare like the player, with his versatility also proving to be a tempting factor.
Tyrick Mitchell and Junior Firpo are also being considered, but they are not among the top ideas currently. If anything, action would be taken for one of the favourites, and then the situation would be reassessed.
So it’s probably gonna be Zichenko.
There is almost a rule in Milan that when we’re linked with 2 or 3 average to good players and a bad player, we will end up with the worst one.

We should have let Kerkez be the number two instead of buying Ballo Touré. Maybe he would’ve stayed and we would have a decent backup for Theo for once.
Instead we now sell Theo. Statistically a very good player for us even in his worst season for us.
I understand Theo. He wanted a better salary but we changes our mind and now forced a move on him. He didn’t want to go to Saudi at first but has to. He will be get a huge salary and be back in Europe within a year or two. The problem will be playing in the World cup if he is in the Saudi league.
A dry loan would work better. We sold him for 2 million to Alkmaar, and they sold him after one season for 17 million.
Kerkez’s father mentioned that during the meeting with Maldini, the objective was that he would be backup to Theo. The guy believed in his abilities. moreso, in the pre-season in which he featured, he had similar style of play, I think he had an assist if I am not mistaken. Then Ballo Toure was signed and that was the end. His entourage took that to be a broken promise.
Now, in hindsight, we see Milan should have re-assured him and persuaded him to stay. The young man has gone ahead and proved his worth. he is at Liverpool!

The press picks up some hint of a rumor, likely started by the player’s agent, and runs a story as if its a scoop.
I’m sure majority of us here don’t believe this. I’m sure Allegri is a big fan of Cambiaso, he’s a good player. But that’s about it. My concern is the name Zinchenko that’s not only popping up but there are several different reports linking him with us. Same started with Emerson last summer.

Cambiasso maybe unreachable due to high pricetag and he is 2nd choice captain also starter for juve . Calafiori still affordable because he is not key player in arsenal, the minus maybe he is often injury in arsenal. Zichenko are the new emerson royale, must avoid at all cost. There is tavarez from lazio available for 30m euro but still one season wonder. Only angelino & de cuyper can be buying with 20-25m euro
Tyrick Mitchell have been great for Palace this past season. Hes hold his own vs world class right wingers.
If we can get him for 25 mil I’ll take him over Zinchenko any day of the week.
Italian options for LB: Udogie, Cambiaso, Calafiori. Udogie Tottenham won’t let him leave and the player probably don’t want to go back to Serie A at the moment, he would be expensive and has contract until around 2029 something like that. Cambiaso i think would be great, but would also be expensive, and weird if Juve accepts to let him go to a direct rival. They should try for Calafiori, he had a bad first season at Arsenal, and at the moment rumour is that Arsenal will try for Hato, and they have Lewis-Skelly, and Kiwior can be a LB backup, so probably Arsenal wouldn’t be closed to the idea of selling Calafiori, and with him, Milan could send Bartesaghi on loan for a season or 2, and get now Calafiori and they should go for Tagliafico as bench LB, he is ending his contract at Lyon this summer and will be free agent. If then Bartesaghi does well in a loan and returns, and Tagliafico (or other back up is gone), Calafiori could move to be a CB. If not Calafiori, there are other options better than Zinchenko, for example: Alex Grimaldo, Estupiñan or Kadioglu (both play at Brighton), i would even look at the Brazilian market over Zinchenko, there in Brazil you will find an italian that has been good at Vasco da Gama, Lucas Piton; or Piquerez from Palmeiras, who is Uruguayan with Italy as second citizenship, he’s playing the club world cup at the moment
