Fikayo Tomori had a day to forget on Sunday, but as the most senior member of the AC Milan defence, it won’t be so easy.
Massimiliano Allegri has often built his defensive units around experience. So, Tomori was likely to stay in the summer, being the most experienced name in a struggling defensive unit. Since then, he has been pretty solid.
Questions have been asked occasionally, but he has not been disastrous until yesterday.

Tomori’s terrible afternoon
Against Sassuolo, Tomori had his worst performance in recent memory. A game where nothing went right and everything went wrong.
As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, he made two silly fouls in unnecessary positions. In neither instance did he really need to act, either. Both challenges were against quicker players in midfield. Put simply, he could and should’ve reacted differently.
He struggled to press effectively and neither of his yellow cards were protested; they were clear as day.
In a game that could’ve been decisive for the Rossoneri’s Champions League hopes for all the right reasons, someone with experience was needed to help give a solid defensive performance, especially after consecutive clean sheets.
Instead, it was a game to remember for the wrong reasons, and the Champions League hopes have become that again, a hope, rather than a certainty.

He was even partially at fault for the goal, because Jashari had to cover the space Tomori is supposed to occupy. Instead, he was running next to them. The guy wasn’t in the game at all. If anything, 4 years later he is less reliable both mentally and technically. He’s overall having a decent season mainly becaue of the 3-5-2 where Alexis is constantly helping him.
He didn’t improve since scudetto season
Sure. Hahahahahaha. He is good because Saelemakers is helping defensively. One of the worse defensive players in the team. You can’t make this up…
Sopa
Tomori is useless
