The story between Massimiliano Allegri and AC Milan didn’t end in the most harmonious way, and now Adrien Rabiot could be involved.
According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the relationship between Allegri and Milan deteriorated progressively from January, amid unmet transfer requests, slumping results towards the end of the season and heightened internal tensions.

After his dismissal, the discussion also shifted to his severance package. Allegri had another year left on his contract and asked for approximately €5m gross in total, for himself and his staff. In exchange, Milan would save over €4m, compared to the €9m gross owed (just for Allegri) for 2026-27.
A souring relationship
The agreement for the contract termination was reportedly reached with difficulty, after anything but peaceful days. Now, Allegri is preparing to begin his new adventure at Napoli and he will meet his new sporting director Giovanni Manna to plan the window.
This is where Rabiot re-emerges: the French midfielder is a staunch loyalist of Allegri, who would like to see him join him at the Azzurri. Napoli having Champions League football could represent a major draw, especially compared to the Europa League that awaits Milan.
The Rossoneri are not concerned, though. Rabiot has a contract until June 2028, and will only leave if a big enough offer comes in. This applies to him and all the other players tempted to leave: exits must be right for the project and right for the accounts.
