Italy has been hit with a new scandal involving referees this week, and after the draw with Juventus, AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri commented on the matter.
Last weekend, it was reported that Gianluca Rocchi was under investigation for a complaint raised in May 2025. Whilst originally archived, as Football Italia reported, it was reopened recently and sent shockwaves around Italy.
There are several claims that Rocchi interfered with games, as well as suggestions that he removed referees from Inter games that were deemed ‘unfavourable’. It is a disgraceful moment for Italian football, which already struggles with the marketing of its product.
So, something like this coming out is extremely damaging and on Sunday, the coach was asked about the situation.
Allegri’s view on referee scandal
During his press conference, he was asked plainly on his thoughts on the situation with Rocchi, and Allegri was typically coy. However, he did offer a reply as MilanNews has relayed.
“I only have to think about football: it’s not up to me to give opinions and judgments. Sozza was very good, with a good personality; perhaps talking less about the referees would help them do better.”

Is Modric lost until end of season? Can you check that???
