Official: Allegri handed suspension and fine after Lazio red card – the details

After the incident against Lazio, AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has been suspended and fined, it has been confirmed.

A lot can be said about Saturday’s win against the Laziali. However, what Allegri will care about most is the fact that his Milan side picked up another three points that take them to the top of the Serie A table.

Of course, it was not without drama, and this is why the Italian will be suspended for a game.

The decision

In the Open VAR episode today, the referee catches the part where the coach is sent off, with him voicing his displeasure to the official, earning him a red card. Given that the decision was eventually overturned, it is potentially a bit frustrating. However, that is Allegri; he wears his heart on his sleeve (or voices it).

Now, with the end of the matchday, the Sports Judge decisions have arrived, as MilanNews relays. In their report, Allegri’s suspension is confirmed, and he will miss one game – the Torino game this weekend, not the Lazio game in the Coppa Italia.

In addition to his suspension, he has also been ordered to pay a €10k fine. Elsewhere, the club have been fined a further €5k due to supporters throwing items onto the pitch.

  1. Well, they also have to put some professional order to the refereeing. It is frustrating to be calling VAR for long period and watching var screens everytime there is an incident in the box. It kills the game, and makes the referee look unserious.
