GdS: Allegri ‘thinking of everything’ – De Winter, Nkunku and other derby wild cards

Ahead of this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina, AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri is making a few considerations about his team.

There is no denying the fact that this weekend could be huge for Milan. Even if they win and cannot get back into the Scudetto race, they will add three more huge points in the Champions League race, which count for an awful lot at this stage.

Allegri hopes for a repeat of the first game, but changes will be made, and the coach is ready to make them, as Gazzetta dello Sport (see below) writes.

Defensive duties

It starts in defence, where Koni De Winter’s presence is an increasing likelihood, with Matteo Gabbia still not 100%. Whilst the Italian could recover, the Belgian has taken the lead in recent weeks, and displacing him would be unfair.

He, as the report states, isn’t a necessity, but a choice for the team.

French changes

In midfield, Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modric remain untouchable, but the third spot is still a question. Recently, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Samuele Ricci and Ardon Jashari have tried to make it their own, but it appears that Youssouf Fofana will remain the go-to.

The Frenchman could also be joined by another of his compatriots further forward, with Allegri considering Christopher Nkunku’s ‘revival’. Christian Pulisic has had a poor 2026 by his standards, so a change could be made.

Nkunku has been a substitute in the past two games, and he could be a surprise against Inter.
