‘May take a different path’ – Ambrosini suggests Daniel Maldini to Inter is not a fantasy

Massimo Ambrosini has warned AC Milan fans that they might need to get their head around the idea of Daniel Maldini ending up at city rivals Inter.

After spending the second half of last season on loan at Monza, Adriano Galliani pushed to make Maldini’s deal a permanent one and he was able to do so as the playmaker joined them on a free transfer as per various reports, with Milan having a resale clause.

That particular clause might become quite significant, because there have been reports stating that Inter are keen on doing something quite unthinkable: bringing a Maldini to the blue side of the city. However, numerous sources are claiming Milan have the right of first refusal so they could disrupt things.

Ambrosini is someone who knows what it means to feel such a strong tie to the red and black shirt as the former captain of Milan, and he was asked about the idea that Daniel Maldini could end up at Inter. MilanNews relayed his comments.

Can you imagine him wearing an Inter shirt?

“We have to prepare for the fact that Daniel may take a different path.”

Is he a player who can reach that level?

“I don’t know, for the moment he isn’t. But he has put in a little more than he was even a year ago, in terms of presence on the pitch. Physically he has grown even more. I don’t know where he can get to, in my opinion he has to keep up the level of ambition and presence on the pitch.

“Then on a physical, technical and presence level on the pitch he has it. But then after that he has to make the further leap, there we have to see the continuity.”

  1. with current owners everything is possible. there is no any more respect to anything. no values at all. let’s hope that Daniel Maldini could be still some rare exception in this strange modern world. but it’s depend on him.

    1. I wanted Maldini to stay. But that choice was made when we went for Okafor who was coming in as a sub for the recent league mvp Leao.

I am glad Daniel Maldini is doing well and that the legend gets to live on. First time I saw him I thought he was going to be a defender
