Ambrosini discusses Ibrahimovic’s outing vs. Bologna: “He’s not in top condition”

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic didn’t have the best of games for AC Milan last night, despite getting on the scoresheet and also assisting another goal. After a long absence, it’s clear that the Swede needs time to regain match fitness.

The Swede was, frankly, very poor overall as he lost several balls and looked like he was trying to avoid an injury. In addition, the own-goal wasn’t like him at all, as he would normally clear that ball with ease.

As said, though, he did get on the scoresheet and his presence in the box made a difference. Speaking live on DAZN after the game, as cited by MilanNews, former teammate Massimo Ambrosini shared his thoughts.

“Did Ibra ask Pioli to stay on the pitch until the end to get the goal? In my opinion, no, but the conditions of numerical superiority kept him on the pitch. From a physical point of view, we can see that he’s not in top condition. He stayed on the pitch but in my opinion, the idea wasn’t to let him stay on the pitch for 90 minutes,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if Ibrahimovic will play from the first minute against Torino on Tuesday evening. Either way, he will surely get some minutes to be ready for the game against Roma at the weekend.
