AC Milan could find a role for former midfielder Massimo Ambrosini as part of their summer reshuffle, according to a report.
Ambrosini is best known for being part of a successful era at Milan where he spent 18 years of his career, winning 12 major trophies and even captaining the side from 2009 to 2013 following the retirement of Paolo Maldini.
Now, he works as a pundit for DAZN and he has often been outspoken about what the club need during the difficult moments of the last season. It seems he could be given the chance to put his thoughts into action.
Ambrosini: Back to Milam?
Calciomercato.com report that in the semi-revolution that Milan are undergoing ahead of 2025-26, there could be another return in addition to that of Massimiliano Allegri as the head coach.
After the official announcement of his return and the arrival of the sporting director Igli Tare, the club are thinking of introducing a new figure who can act as a glue between the management and the coaching staff.
In this sense, the identikit outlined is a former Milan player, with a lot of experience at the club and strong recognisability. In essence, it would be a figure to be placed alongside Allegri and who can enrich his staff in terms of values and attachment to the colours.

The profile that would best reflect these requirements is Ambrosini. Evaluations are underway at Casa Milan about an approach to hire the former midfielder and captain of Milan, today a popular commentator for DAZN.
Ambrosini is certainly among the candidates for this position and just a few days ago he was at Casa Milan for a meeting with the club. The two parties are talking about things but Ambrosini still has a great bond with the club and is flattered by the idea of returning to the team he loves.
As a professional, however, he wants to understand the role he would find himself covering, a role that he hopes can reflect him as best as possible and that fits into some of the work and family dynamics.
Therefore, he would not like just a mere representation role with little impact or to deal with activities that are far from him, but rather to have an active, important role that coincides with his skills.
No way, Modrić paired with Ambro. Let’s go!
Somehow, Zlatan is being replaced.
He’s failed
Zlatan never acted in any of such capacity, Zlatan has been a Consultant to Redbird acting as Operating Partner and Senior Advisor to AC Milan Ownership and Senior Management.
The last time this role was occupied was by Abbiati, I can remember this vividly.
I was thinking about Pirlo as assistant coach but I loved Ambrosini, so would be happy to see him back
I’m sick of Milan hiring past players for roles they have no experience in. If Milan want to bring in past players then get rid of Furlani and make Albertini the new CEO and make Maldini the new GM.
We don’t need both Scaroni and Furlani. With Albertini as CEO Milan will be better off because he was the past president of the Italian FGIC. Albertini would make a good CEO for Milan.
I suggest reading the article to see what his responsibilites would actually be.
Too bad Albertini isn’t with a Hedge Fund. Otherwise he’d be in already.
This is a good one, he knows the club, he knows the league, he worked with Allegri,is a very experienced former footballer, he has completed his coaching badges, he will bring a new dimension to the coaching staff..,,
Its fine to appoint Ambrosini. I think he can become like Maldini before.
He can reach the players, because he is still one of the Milan’s legend
Yes please! By bringing Ambro back Tare & Max would send a strong message to the fans that they mean business.
Ambrosini = Milanismo of old. This would be a fantastic capture.
