Ambrosini on Paolo Maldini’s reaction to Daniel’s goal: “I’ve never seen him cheer like that”

Daniel Maldini made his first league start for AC Milan earlier today and it’s safe to say that it was a huge success for him. Not only did the Rossoneri win the game by two goals to one, but the No.27 also got on the scoresheet.

As Brahim Diaz needed some rest, Stefano Pioli decided to field Maldini from the first minute. The attacking midfielder has played from start before but not in Serie A, which made it all a bit more special.

When he scored the goal, Paolo Maldini was clearly ecstatic in the stands as we saw on the TV images. In an interview with DAZN (via MilanNews), former Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini shared his thoughts on the goal and the celebration.

“Maldini’s goal is wonderful and comes after a good action. Paolo’s emotion is also beautiful. I have never seen him cheer like that, not even after one of his goals. Seeing his son score in Serie A is something exciting. I don’t think it is easy to manage the presence of a son in a team,” he stated.

Although Maldini did well, Brahim Diaz is the undisputed start in that role with four goals and one assist thus far this season. But it’s always good to have competition within the squad.
