Ambrosini says Ramos is ‘destined’ to score more while Pulisic can ‘solve’ problems

Massimo Ambrosini believes that Goncalo Ramos is ‘destined’ to start scoring more goals for AC Milan, while Christian Pulisic can be the solution to a pretty big problem.

Milan have started the season relatively well with three wins, two draws and one defeat, with the defeat coming against Benfica in the Europa League. In Serie A, therefore, they are on 11 points just two points behind Roma, Inter and Lazio at the top.

However, the feeling is that they can improve. Speaking exclusively to MilanNews, the Milan legend Ambrosini shared his thoughts on the team’s progress, Ramos’ lack of goals, and the importance of Pulisic.

What do you think of Milan’s first six games and what are your thoughts on Amorim?

“I have seen a serious, prepared, and sincere person. I think he needs to slowly find his feet because the team hasn’t always shown what he wants, or rather, it’s shown too little.

“However, the last match was encouraging from this point of view. We need to wait and see the next round of matches, which will be decisive, but in terms of ideas and proposals, Milan is a team that can do well.”

How do you judge Gonçalo Ramos so far?

“I like him. He’s a guy who, despite his few goals, works hard with the team. If the team plays, he can play a few meters further forward with a bit more quality, and even a generous striker like him who roams a lot can get more opportunities.

“But I think he’s destined, given his characteristics, to score more goals if the team improves.”

Despite their poor start to the Europa League, do you think Milan can make it all the way to the final?

“They have to try because they can do it. Now it’s time for two away games, two difficult trips to Salzburg and then England to face Bournemouth.”

How much does this season revolve around Pulisic, how important is it to find the best Pulisic, the one from the first part of last year’s season?

“In terms of quality and characteristics, I think he’s an extremely functional player. Milan have had a problem in these first few matches with the two players playing behind the striker.

“They tried to make a lot of changes there, but in my opinion, they found little quality, except for Cisse, who has been a big help. Otherwise, they’ve had problems there, and Pulisic can solve them.”

Milan’s upcoming game is against Sassuolo on Sunday next week. Pulisic and Ramos are both expected to start in that one, with especially the Portuguese international looking to build on his excellent form during the break.
