This afternoon, Ruben Amorim has landed in Milano, ready to take on the challenge of being the new AC Milan head coach.
It has been a long time coming, but Amorim’s day is officially here. Indeed, the Portuguese coach is now ready to take on the challenge of being the new Milan coach and he knows what it means. Indeed, he has been waiting for this moment.

Several years ago, the coach stated his ambitions were to coach the club and here we are! It will be an instant challenge, with his opening fixtures not exactly being an easy welcome. However, he is ready to attack Serie A, as can be seen with the investments made so far.
Amorim arrives
As he landed in Milano, he was intercepted by journalists, who discussed his new club and his aims, as Luca Maninetti captured and can be seen below. His comments have been relayed by MilanNews.
“I’m truly happy to be here. It’s an honour to be AC Milan’s coach.”
Why did you choose Milan?
“If you see an old interview of mine, I said this is a special club for me. It’s a great challenge. After the last time [at Manchester United] I told myself to choose less demanding challenges, and yet here I am [he laughs], it’s an even bigger challenge.
“But I’m proud to be here, now I want to work with my staff and my players… I’m really happy to be here.”
Ruben, are you in Milan to win?
“You can’t come to Milan without this mentality. We have a lot to do, but if you’re the coach of Milan, you have to play to win.”
Certainly the right words for an opening greeting! Welcome to Milan, Ruben!

Why does it feel like this guy will do well for us? Oh yeah, it’s that optimism I always have at the start if every season.
Or not. It’s not bad to be hopeful. That’s what every fan will do.
For me, it’s still a 50 50 risk. Glasner was a better choice.
That ship has sailed though, so good luck to him and to us.
Glasner probably would have been a better manager. Im not so confident in Amorim after his disaster at United (and how the same players roared up the table once he was gone, suggesting he couldnt get the best out of them)
However Amorim does seem to have an eye for talent and has somehow convinced Cardinale to go get his absolute 1st choice players.
Gila / Inacio / Ramos are notable upgrades on what we had before (assuming we get all 3 targets)
That just won’t be (good) enough if we don’t sign LWB, MC and AMRC after that…
For the first time in a long time I’m actually happy with the coach apponuntment. Also because for fking once coach is being allowed to bring in exactly his type of players.

That is what gives me hope too. Cardinale and Cavelli seem to only go after players requested by Amorim.
Instead of Zlatan, Moncada, Furlani and Tare all fighting over who gets to play Football Manager and bring in whoever they like regardless of the coaches wishes.
