Moretto: Amorim begins contact with Inacio with ‘great admiration’ still present

Ruben Amorim has worked with Goncalo Inacio before and he remains a big fan of the Portuguese defender, to the point where he wants him at AC Milan.

Virgil van Dijk and Mario Gila are two of the biggest names linked to the position. However, there is also another more favoured option. Indeed, it is Inacio who is believed to be the leading candidate currently.

Talks begin with Amorim

A discount would be available to the Rossoneri from his €60 million release clause, but the club are seeking further negotiations on the price, according to reports. Now, Matteo Moretto has offered an update on the situation, with talks already taking place, as MilanNews relays.

“There have been contacts between AC Milan and Sporting over Gonçalo Inacio in recent days. Specifically, the Rossoneri club wants to explore the costs of the operation, considering that the Portuguese club is open to a €60 million discount on the release clause, but not an excessive one.

“Meanwhile, Moretto suggests that Ruben Amorim has most likely also exchanged a few words with Inacio, a player he greatly admires.”
