This weekend’s game against Juventus is the biggest test for AC Milan in the opening fixtures, and Ruben Amorim could react accordingly.
It’s been a perfect start for Milan so far, both in terms of points and performances. Alphadjo Cisse’s launch has delivered some good signs, but he is not alone in that category. Of course, the points on the board will be the biggest sign of things working so far, though.

Six from six is a great start for Amorim and the Rossoneri project, but they must now convince against Juventus too, if they are to compete for the Scudetto.
Amorim expected to make changes
As MilanVibes writes this afternoon, Amorim could shift his attacking midfielders to a more ‘starting’ pair. Indeed, it would see Cisse and Loftus-Cheek move to the bench, allowing Alexis Saelemaekers and Adrien Rabiot to start.
Both have proven to be highly influential so far this season – Gazzetta dello Sport even wrote that Rabiot could decide the game against his former team if he starts – so they will hope to continue that in an early six-pointer.
Christian Pulisic is expected to get minutes from the bench, too. So, this is something to also consider. Whether it means Cisse will move to the right as a substitute is something else entirely, but it seems Amorim is ready to unleash the starters.

I like that he has built flexibility and is planning heavy rotation with both coppa Italian and Europa league matches midweek. Modric should be kept to 60 min / game for the foreseeable future. Rabiot will play as a #10 until Pulisic gets untracked. moreira can play either wing or as av#10. Musah has been a pleasant surprise. comotto has been anointed the backup 9. All good steps. If tomori is a capable backup, it’s a win to not have sold him.

I think all this tweaking should have been done in preseason but here we are and Amorim has yet to figure who plays better with whom.
No, this is supposed to occur throughout the season. If you play with the same combinations over and over then other teams can plan on how to stop you.
What about Moreira, player they buy for around 70 million but doesnt play a single minute so far and still choose playing a mediocre player like stupidnan

I expect Rabiot and probably Saelemaekers to get the nod to start this one, but more because of their experience than anything.
But if Amorim does choose to start RLC or Cissé instead then can we please give that call a chance? It’s a 90 minute game and if he decides to keep some reserves back to make an impact when Juve start to tire, that doesn’t mean he ‘has favourites’ or ‘doesn’t know his best XI’. We’re away with a new squad and if we choose to play it more safe to start that is a valid strategy.
Yes, all the goals we’ve scored this year have been when Rabiot has been on the pitch… but also they’ve been scored when we’ve been able to bring him on against a tired opponent.
I believe the key decisions will be who to start on the left wing, and who plays behind Ramos. For me, I’d start Moreira to mount continuous pressure on Kalulu, force him to make errors. Saelemaekers can take over in the second half, or vice versa. No Cisse for this one. RLC’s strength may give him the starting position behind Ramos, but, his versatility will required even more. This may be his last game until we face Inter. He has a lot to prove. However, the coach could go with Pulisic. Rabiot will start this one; maybe just a three-man defense.
I think we do have a chance of getting out 3 points from this Juve, no Yildiz and incomplete team. Lets pile up the points while the honeymoon phase is still intact . I wanna see Ramos being efficient, he has been spectacular in his off ball game and pressing a derby is the perfect for him to show a deadly instinct in front of the goal. Forza Milan and FY Gerry!
