AC Milan are expecting to finalise a deal with Ruben Amorim today, June 16th, but the Portuguese will not be visiting yet.
Things have moved slowly in the process of hiring a new manager for Milan. It has been tedious at times, but with the right candidates, things have moved rapidly. Over the weekend, a new favourite was established and a deal was done quickly.

So, it has been clear that things could have always moved forward with speed for the right candidate and the Rossoneri believe that they have that in Amorim.
Deal ready to be finalised
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), the contract has been agreed and he will earn €3.5 million per season with €500k available for Champions League qualification and a €1m Scudetto clause inserted.
However, he will not be heading to Milano to sign the deal. Instead, it is expected to be done digitally today. So, he should officially become the new manager shortly. Visits to Italy have not been arranged yet, but they will happen, of course.
After all, he has informed Manchester United of his next step. In other words, this is happening.
Why Amorim?
Amorim has, as this morning’s edition of Gazzetta writes, got everything that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gerry Cardinale wanted. Despite his difficulties in Manchester, he is still a young coach with an attacking mindset who can lead the club forward in the long term.
He wants to develop players and he already has a relationship with several members of the club, including Bobby Gardiner, the expected new Head of Scouting, Ibrahimovic and Massimo Calvelli.
That would not be all, though, he has also received the blessing from Markus Krösche – a two-way street, with Amorim expressing admiration for the German in talks with the club.
